Revenge Of Print!

2011 has been declared the Revenge of Print, because we're all tired of "the end of publishing as we know it" stories. Revenge of Print is a campaign to get as many people as possible to self-publish in 2011!

Issue three is the newest issue of Cadillac Girl zine. It is about how my life has changed in the past six years since the last time I published Cadillac Girl; being a mother, a wife, and finding myself again. My zine includes writing and artwork from outside contributors/fans/readers. I should be hitting the copier up on Thursday so I can get some copies out. I also submitted it to a few distros, so hopefully it will get picked up. Check out the website http://cadillacgirlzine.webs.com

Asuang is an umbrella term for creatures that people our imagination. As blood suckers, they engender in us, a fear of the dark, of morbidity, of paleness, of incense. The fear that desires, the fear that suffocates, not just creatures but open spaces and high places. Fear of beings that when looked at mirrors or through other eyes, resemble perhaps, ourselves? Then here maybe, there be monsters?

Asuang then calls not just for darkness but for hallucinogen, psychedelia, kaleidoscopic narratives in whatever genre.

Specifically, we ask for:
1. 1-3 poems/ essays/ flash fiction (less than 500 words, English or Filipino)

2. 1-3 artworks in black/ white (in JPEG format)

3. 1-3 sound pieces in MP3 or Wav format

4. Critical essays about the small press/ underground publishing/ the culture of fanzines (also under 500 words)

5. Reviews of any issue of Paper Monster Press (and we’ve done 6 so far)
a. Pyrotechnic Poetry 1
b. Pyrotechnic Poetry 2
c. S/trip-hop
d. Dream(pop)
e. Queer Punk
f. SANDIGmaan

6. A theme for 1 print year
a. Issue 1: Atlantis (about forgetting/ resurfacing/ the abyss/ depths/ drowning/ swan diving)
b. Issue 2: Free Tibet (about culture clash/ Buddhism/ heights/ climbing/ pure dizziness of clouds)
c. Issue 3: Time-space Warp (about timezones/ cultural differences/ time and space/ reincarnation/ and the endless echoes we can never reach)
d. Issue 4: Labyrinths (canals/ road bridges/ the strange and devious routes we take to fantasy/ intoxication/ escape)

1. Send all submissions to papermonsterpress@yahoo.com with the heading: ATTN: ASUANG SUBMISSION
2. The deadline for submissions is on May 31, 2012.
3. Payment is one contributor copy and that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from seeing your name in print. ;)

My zine for Revenge of Print is Temporal Grace #1 its full of fiction stories and music rants. I'm working on a project that I'm told is very ambitious. It's half zine library half netflix. Where for a subscription you can check out the zines. Right now, I'm in the planing stages. I'm collecting zines and planing actives.

My idea is if you let me have flats to copy your zine myself and keep it in my library. (That way if any copies get lost I can make more with out bothering you.) I can pay cover price for two zines (a print copy and your flat) or you can donate (you'll get library access for a year if you donate).

I want to collect your zines, older zines, out of print zines. I will review all zines on my personal blog and I'll even be making youtube videos. It is my goal to archive your work and our passion.

It's a heavy project and to make it more fun. I want to organize "Mixers" here in NYC. The idea would be to bring people in to pair them up and watch them make a split zine in 2-3 hours.

Please contact me for more info here or at tantrum@thedirtygeisha.com

Thanks for listening to me ramble

I forgot to post here this summer when I finished my zine for 2011. It's Paper Crush #4 and it's about collecting old postcards and photogpraphs. Each issue comes with a free vintage postcard. You can find it on my Etsy shop

I've been forgetting to post the things I've been printing. This year I've done a few little free minis, an issue of Square Dance, the Spring & Fall Trees & Hills comics anthologies, and now...

These miniature comics are perfect for trick-or-treaters or Halloween party-goers! Buy them in sets of ten at my shop, buy them in a set with comics by other cartoonists, or see below to download copies you can print and assemble yourself.

In what will be my final contribution to this year's Revenge party, I just "published" my latest perzine/bitch-fest TWILIGHT WORLD (zine version) (#11). See my "blog" for the gory details.
