Queer Zines and Queer Zinesters

Are you a queer zinester (broadly defined, of course)? Do you write about your genderfucking, transitioning, same-and-other-gender lovin' experiences, or about queer and LBGTQ communities and cultures? If so, let's start talking about it.

you've got a friend in pennsylvania (a perzine) issue #2 features part 2 of my diary entries from a trip to slovenia & croatia, a playlist, an entry on my name, an essay on illegal immigration, being queer to straight friends, a conversation with my perpetrator (potentially triggering), story about a racist friend, an essay about my rat, DIY tips for winter & making a sweet treat, zine/book/music recommendations and a story or two. 1/2 size, 36 pages. asking $2 or trade. Hey, going to be putting together a radical queer zine - about being a queer punk, being against assimilation, and gay shame. If you want to know more/write something/draw something - feel free to email at kale.and.glitter (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks! :)

Hello hello! I am currently working on a zine: Saling-pusa and aside from being a perzine, it focuses mostly on self-discovery and self-definition. And for this first issue, i am looking for articles/pieces that talks about how you just knew you're gay. It can be as obvious as starting to be attracted to someone of the same sex or something like playing house with another girl, being forced to play the guy role and realizing you liked it... it can be anything really. i just really want to see/hear about how people finally confirmed and admitted to themselves they're gay/queer or whatever you preffer to call it. I am really interested to read those turning point stories. :) you can email me at i_reply@live.com for more info or to submit your submission. thanks!

I hope you are well and finding satisfaction and joy in your lives and in your creativity! Thanks to everyone who read the first issue of my zine, The Alchemical Postmodern Theorist 1.1: the buying of queer culture. Making the zine was a very personal experience for me, and took about 4 years! The accumulation of four years of anti-assimilationist queer passion ended up being a bit messy and some readers found it inaccessible. This time around, I want to create a really meaty, accessible and radical zine, and I am asking for submissions from you, radical and queer zinesters and writers:

APMT 1.2: "this is what we call family" explores the family in all of its brilliant permutations. Is family defined by one man, and one women, and kids? By two married people of any gender? I am seeking to move beyond the gay marriage debate, and into the territory of chosen, post-nuclear, extended and queer families that break boundaries and practice radical new forms of support and encouragement. At the root of the revolution are groups of people who depend on each other, who are imagining and re-imagining 'family' all the time. Share your experiences with family - contribute your story, artwork, poem or article!
Deadline for submission is December 30, 2009. --

I am a straight person who is very active in supporting and advocating for GLBT people. I am a former church pastor who is disillusioned by church and fascinated by spirituality.

I love writing and have been blogging for 4 years. I am keen to learn all I can about zines but would also like to connect with and write for the GLBT zine community.

My blog is at http://lchatwin.blogspot.com

Please message me. I love networking and learning from others.

I never posted here that my new zine, imaginary windows no. 4 is out and available. There's a pretty sizable article on queerness, femme identity, and bicycles. Sassafras Lowrey reviewed it on The Femme's Guide (read here)

FUTURE FUN ALL
Hello friends, I am putting out a call for writing, art, comics, photographs, on the practical and philosophical aspects of gender, sexuality, bodies, and queerness.
Personal experiences (good, bad, and other), philosophies, rants, funny stories, observations, interviews, dreams of the future. Ultimately, I want to put a zine out that is a positive fuck yeah for queernessi, transgenderisms, bodies, sexualities, and ultra wave inclusive feminism. A recognition that all oppressions are interconnected, and the time is now to share our stories and deconstruct the dead ends.
Years ago I did four issues of a crudely similar zine called “Girl-Boy” with a co-editor.
It was a fun and enlightening exploration, I want to do it again, this time with everybody!
After the submissions have been picked and assembled I will submit the final zine to an awesome independent publisher. I might also put it on a blog thing for the world to share. If you want to specify rights reserved in your works, write that on the work, or let me know in some way. This is not a profit venture, it is to share experience and open minds, our own, and anyone that reads.
If you have suggestions for a title, please send them in! My original brainstorm title idea “Beyond Girl-Boy” seems entirely cheesy. My new working title is: “Future Fuck All”.
Deadline is Novemebr 1st, 2009.
Drop me a note if you have questions.
