you’ve got a friend in pennsylvania #6

my issues with mental health have always been immensely difficult for me to assess, describe, and talk about. an intensely private person, i have kept most of my struggles to myself. in this zine, i attempt to investigate the traces of anxiety, depression, suicide, and alcoholism in my family’s history as well as my own difficulties with these issues. almost split into two zines due to volume, this issue is a hefty assortment of stories, thoughts, and emotions.

eight sections discuss: the secrecy surrounding my family’s history of suicides, a recent suicide in my family, my issues with anxiety and pushing emotions aside, my reoccuring suicidal thoughts and how my identities intersect with them, talking with a fellow queer/trans* friend struggling with suicide, assessing my tumultuous relationship with alcohol and deciding to become consciously sober, what i can do to manage and deal with things, and what i plan to do in the future. there is a trigger warning for the zine relating to depression, anxiety, suicide, self-harm, alcoholism, sexual assault, and abuse - please take care of yerself before you read this - it is intense.

this zine is extremely text heavy, black & white, 46 pages, and 1/2 size. for purchasing or trading, please e-mail youvegotafriendinpaATgmailDOTcom or get in touch with me on here!

The latest issue of my Ken Chronicles (#22) is finished and available for $2 (to USA) or fair trade. It's 24 digest-sized pages & contains a long travel story to the western US, as well as book, music & concert reviews, and lots of photos. I prefer trades for perzines of any kind, travel and non-fiction. Let me know what you've got.

New zine, hot off the press. Cricket Express #1 is my new perzine where I'm going to write about the many jobs I've had. Issue #1 is just a small introductory zine telling about how/why I decided to make the zine and a hint of what's to come in issue#2. I'll be putting it up on my etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/petitspoissons) soon or message me if you'd like to trade.

Looking for zines!

I want to start carrying other people’s zines in my distro. I’m looking for perzines, compilation zines, humor zines, and literary zines. I wont carry zines that include any forms of bigotry.

If you want to submit your zine for consideration please email: cbcutouts@yahoo.com or message me on here.

Dear friends,

The Fourth Annual Love Unlimited Film Festival & Art Exhibition is welcoming Zine Writers the chance to read an excerpt of their perzines in either Austin, Texas (2/26/2012 )or Los Angeles (4/16/2012).  Contact Love Unlimited through their contact page.  Zine Submissions for the competitive portion of the event are closed so all readings would be accepted, at no fee, on a non-competitive basis.  There is no fee to apply to read an excerpt of zines and poetry zines.

We greatly welcome zines of all types, sizes and formats (perzines, political zines, etc.,) that are directly or indirectly related to love.

We also would greatly like to encourage zine writers who have written about their experiences in the Occupy Movement throughout the world.

Thanks!

Love creates a better world.

Thanks.  Take care.

I'm currently selling copies of the first two issues of my perzine, Travel On, through my blog: http://ireallyfelt.blogspot.com I'm asking 2 dollars and 2 stamps per zine but I'm not strict on it. This is my first time ever asking money for zines but it is to help pay to print issue #3 which has been written but not printed.

The zines mainly include some fictional stories, some letters I wrote, and some non-fiction ramblings.

you’ve got a friend in pennsylvania #5 is now finished!

having worked at in a warehouse for the past month and a half, i’ve spent a lot of time within a “boys’ club” environment. daily struggles with hearing racist and sexist bullshit and making attempts to challenge the mindsets of those around me have left me defensive and drained. this zine, done in 24-ish hours for the dc zine fest, is about resisting militant masculinity on the job, learning how to more effectively call out shitty behavior, and how i have created a safer space for myself (and hopefully some others) at work. b&w, 1/4 size, 20 pages. includes original photography by yours truly! $1 or trade. if interested, please send me a message or e-mail youvegotafriendinpa(at)gmail(dot)com

Not Lonely #6

This issue of my perzine is largely concerned with a recent trip I made to Holland. I write about getting there (despite a fear of flying), exploring Rotterdam and Amsterdam and going to a fairytale-themed amusement park, the Efteling. I talk about differences between British and Dutch culture and wonder if I'd like to move over there. There is also an (unrelated) item about books I loved as a child, as well as the "usual" handwritten introduction. The zine was made cut-and-paste style with lots of different layouts, collages and photos from my Holland excursion.
A6 (quarter-sized), 40 pages, pretty text-heavy.

It's £1.50 including UK postage, plus 75p for international postage. Get it (& my other zines) here!
