Introduction

Hey all, I have been meaning to do this for years. I was sort of thinking someone else would, but no one has, so I finally did it.

I am 46. I think zines are different for people in the 40's and up because we weren't teens making zines in 1994. I did start making a zine in 1994 with all the riot grrrls and zine kids across the U.S., but I was 29, not 15.

I'm not sure about the discussions I envision here. When I first came to Portland a zinester over 30 was pretty unheard of. I was 36. Now, most of the younger people I met those first couple of years are now turning 30. So, it seems a good time to open up the next generation of this age specific kind of group.

No offense to the youths, but sometimes it can get a little tiring reading about college finals, moving across the country for the first time, hosteling in Europe, first heartbreak and all that. I…Continue

The latest issue of my perzine, the Ken Chronicles (#32, August, 2014) is now available to all for $3 (postpaid to USA) or possible trade (what have you got?) This issue is digest-sized, 24 pages plus covers, and contains part two (and the conclusion) of my story about all the jobs I've worked in my life. Also, some reviews of movies, zines and music, plus my tale of tabling at this year's Brooklyn Zine Fest, and various random thoughts and oddities.

Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 should be the printing date for my zine, "Cheap Shots" which is a combination illustrated comic/sci-fi story zine.  It will also feature a few pin-ups of "rocket girls" and "jungle girls" rendered by me.

Currently I am unable to post any pics of it, but if you would like to get a copy, please message me or leave a comment.  I would like to trade for another zine or stamps,  or offer it for $3.50 postage paid.

Just provide me with your contact info and what you would like to do.

Thanks!

The latest issue of my perzine, the Ken Chronicles (#31, May, 2014), was released just in time for the Brooklyn Zine Fest where I had a great time meeting some fine folks. Now available for $3 (postpaid to USA) or trade (what have you got?), it's 24 digest-sized pages (plus cover wrap) of non-fiction stories, photography, reviews, and other assorted oddities.

Hi Ken, the last zine I made was about working in veterinary medicine and animal care. Mostly personal narratives/collage/a few poems...I am very interested in trades.

Guttercat: what is your zine about? Are you into trades?

Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Billy and I live in Ohio, U.S. I was excited to find this group today. I hope I don't get thrown out but I am just on the edge of turning 39...Anyway, I recently returned to school to school for a BFA and I was struck with the fact that no one knew what a zine was! Partly due to place perhaps but also I think that it is partly due to technological advances. I am just happy to know that I am not the only one who is still making zines past their early/mid twenties.

made a zine about 6 months ago
