Two new zines available: 50:50 Zine #2 - 50 ways to be happy, 50 ways to be sad. Single double-sided A4 sheet.

Change the World in 7 Days - 16 page A6 zine, with a 'change the world' task for every day of the week.

I'm looking for submissions for a one-off zine called I'm Not Like Other Girls.

What I want women and girls to do is to complete the sentence,
"I'm not like other girls because..."

I will make a zine of the responses.

The sentence will appear randomly placed, with all credits at the end, so your sentence and your credit aren't linked. This may help you to be more open, and the zine will flow much better too.

They may be categorised by theme, but that will depend on the submissions.

1) Put 'I'm not like other girls' in the subject line.
2) Email me your sentence (I'm not like other girls because...)
3) Tell me if you want to be anonymous.
4) If you want to be credited, tell me how (name / pseudonym, name of zine, etc)
5) If you want to receive a contributors' copy when it's ready, tell me your address too.

I can't guarantee your words will be put in the zine, but it's very likely. I only want submissions from women and girls.

Basically, the three zines are:
Rebel Grrl Zine: The Survive Issue
This is a feminist zine aimed at survivors of sexual abuse and sexual violence. It is mainly aimed at women and girls, and is a 24 page A5 size zine, photocopied.

How to Write a Zine or THE ART OF PROCRASTINATION
This is ostensibly about the process of creating a zine, but is really all about procrastination - its joys and frustrations, and contains various procrastination tools and ideas within :)
This was written for the 24 hour zine project. It is a 24 page A6 zine, photocopied.

50:50 Zine #1
Double sided A4 page, 50 things I love on one side, 50 things I hate on the other. Simple as!

I created my first zine, freeFLOW, in January 2009 and it's still going strong! Putting this zine together every month has been one of the most enjoyable creative projects that I've undertaken. I'm totally hooked!

I've beeen doing the same Zine for over 8 years now (Chicken-Head Records Zine), all I can say is each new issue is packed with more hate. Otherwise, it's the same perhaps a few less spelling errors.

I put together my first zine, which is a cookzine titled "Butter My Butt and Call Me a Biscuit." (A little late to the scene, 35 and just getting started!) But what was extra exciting was that I appeared on a local television news show this morning (Sacramento, CA viewing area) and was able to promote my humble little zine. Whoo hoo!

Hello beauties and heroes,

It's really cool to see all of the people in this group are keeping the zine alive. I started reading zines here and there in the 80s with things like Maximum Rock & Roll and a few others I sent for. I never really made zines, but I was HUGE into writing letters and mail art. I read zines here and there though when I could find them and I picked up Factsheet Five when I could find it. I kind of thought zines died out, but with the interweb realized there is a lot more going on than I even realized. I'm thrilled about it.

Some of the things that have led me back are finding the zine rack at Arise bookstore in Minneapolis, one of my friends giving me a few of his zines he had done, finding an issue of Shelley Jackson's Chain Breaker, and just picking up a couple of other zines I found lately. I just got done reading Whatcha' Mean What's Zine that I found at the library and it got my gears turning again. I should have a bunch of time in August to work on something, so I'm pretty jazzed about it.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is doing. Oh, and I'm 37. I totally don't feel old at all, but do have those moments when I realize how much older I am than some of the people around me - so it's nice to be in the presence of people my own age here.

p.s. Marnie - I LOVED Sassy magazine! I thought it really had the spirit of a zine also, even though it was a glossy mag. I miss it.
