Hey all, NYC doesn't have a comprehensive city wide zine fest.  the 4th Pete's Mini Zine Fest will be held Saturday, July 21 from 2-7pm.  Tables are $25.  This one is smaller and mellower than the recent Brooklyn Zine Fest - we have a more intimate setting, more space for lingering and looking at zines and for zinesters to get to know each other - there's an outdoor beer garden.

The Brooklyn Zine Fest was great!!  I enjoyed my day. My husband and I went, it was nice going to a zine fest close to home.  I'm from NJ and was happy to attened the event. Come back next year!

I'm tabling at the upcoming Brooklyn Zine Fest - it's not the NYC Zine Fest but should be of interest to those in the city since the NYC Zine Fest isn't going on. Check it out:

The 2012 Brooklyn Zine Fest 

Sunday April 15, 2012 from 11am to 6pm

at Public Assembly (70 North 6th St.) in Williamsburg [Google Map].  Take the L to Bedford Ave., the G to Metropolitan Ave., or the J, M, Z to Marcy Ave.

My friend Matt and Kseniya, makers of the zine "I Love Bad Movies" are co-organizing it, and they are doing a fantastic job. Check out their blogto read interviews with all the zine-makers. It looks like a well-curated, eclectic line-up and I can't wait to be a part of it!

Talk about timing! potential bushwick zine fest/show July 25 read!

I'm looking for zinesters who want to table at a zine fair in collaboration with the House of Yes, an experimental art and performance space in Brooklyn (Bushwick) on Sunday July 25. This has come together just today! The zine tabling would be part of a show that is already planned, with bands, DJs, tattoo artists, sponsorship, glossy posters promoting the event. Then the zines, just add water. It is possible that we can table for free and do not need to rent table space. Collaborating with the House of Yes is a win-win for us and them.
The show provides something to draw people to see our zines, they have a large mailing list and regular events. Looking at our zines and colorful community gives the audience something to do (and buy!) in between acts and adds to the overall attendance.--Plus I think we can table for free.

All I need right now is some yesses so I can show that we are ready to go and they can add the words Zine Fest to the posters. Please rsvp right away (don't have times yet, probably like 1-7pm).

I'm just not sure I've got the time to be a lead organizer on this, which is why I never volunteered Barnard. Plus, is it too far uptown?

actually I live in NY and we DID have one. Just not called NYC Zine fest, it was a much smaller enterprise. Yeah the Lyceum couldn't afford to host it because the rental space there is too high and last year everyone complained about the table prices. It was May 1, 2010 we had it uptown.

if anyone wants to help make a NYC zine fest still happen, it is up for grabs. NY is huge and the writer community splintered. I always thought Barnard Zine Library should host one, I will ask Jenna when I see her in June what it would take to make that happen.

Hi Everyone, I'm unhappy to report that the NYC Zine Fest is not happening this year. I hope it will happen in 2011, but it's all about finding the perfect venue. please share ideas here. Thanks!
