Hey, I've just started asking for submissions for my first zine, I want to make a collaborative riot grrl zine, I've made a tumblr and fb , handed out flyers and put up posters, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on getting the word out and what people prefer to sell zines on online, etsy, big cartel or others?

I'm calling for submissions for the first issue of Girlzone zine. Girlzone is a not for profit feminist collective, exploring monthly themes concerning adolescent and young adulthood through the realisation and understanding of feminism. Supporting female artists and writers through a monthly zine.

This months theme is HAIR

The deadline is 18th Nov

I really hope people want to get involved! Please go to our tumblr for more info http://girlzonezine.tumblr.com or send submissions to girlzonezine@gmail.com <3

I am preparing to show at my first zine fest...how long does is an average zine? if I cant draw, do I hire an artist? How can I find an artist? After its finished: how many copies should I run off? how much do I price the zine? Any other advice?!

I have 2 mini zines for trade:)

My first zine What is love? (…baby don’t hurt me, no more.)

Which is an 8 page mini zine with collections of people’s perceptions of love and a few “Notes to future girlfriends” with a few polls thrown in.

I also have my 2nd zine 101 Songs You HAVE To Hear.

Which includes 101 songs in no particular order you MUST hear. Wide variety of genres.

Pictures are on my Etsy.

@ms. cherry bomb copyright infringement is always going to be a concern if you're not pulling imagery from a clip art or stock images sort of source. You could always just help an artist (or artists) out and commission their work for your zine? I can't imagine it being hard, especially on a site like this, to find an artist willing to do it just for the experience.

Where do non-artists get their graphics and pictures? Do you have to worry about copyright infringement if you take your images from newspapers and magazines?
