i'll be moving here, by next year. meanwhile, i figure i can write to people, like form a tight pen-pal relationships, with those who already live there? good idea, no? i hope whatever. i like writing, shit-cartooning, generally just making things, music, and drinking. (beer, milkshakes, chocolate milk, 40oz.s etc.)

This comment is to Dawn.  I've been doing other research on zines and have come across numerous articles about teaching using zines.  Just now, I came across this one:

Not Just for Kids Anymore: Using Zines in the Classroom
AMY J. WAN
The Radical Teacher
No. 55, EDUCATION AND CONSUMERISM (Spring 1999), pp. 15-19
And this:
Zinesters in the Classroom: Using Zines to Teach about Postmodernism and the Communication of Ideas
Kristin G. Congdon and Doug Blandy
Art Education
Vol. 56, No. 3 (May, 2003), pp. 44-52
But there is really a lot more.  These are in JSTOR, though I would try Project Muse too.  OK, hopefully that's helpful.  -Anne

I just sent you some stuff via email. I've got a teaching with zines bib, but it's about five years old. I'd love to update it. Maybe we can collaborate on posting a list here http://zinelibraries.info.

Hi Zinesters!
My name's Dawn. I am a former NYC public high school ESL teacher who taught zine-making to my students. Now, I'm in library school studying to become a community college/academic librarian, hopefully.

Anyway, I am currently in an information literacy pedagogy course, and doing a research process project with the following research question:
"How do high school teachers create effective zine projects to help students of all learning abilities improve in their writing skills?"

If any of you have/know of someone who has/or know of resources where I can find information related to this question, please reply to me at the following email address-

Thanks in advance!
