We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

I live in London but will be visiting New York this winter - probably January/February time. Are there any tips for a zinester in NYC? Places to go, things to do or see (zine related, I dont mean generally).

I'm going on my own, so keen to be in places where I can meet like minded folk whilst I'm there. Any help much appreciated.

hi Astrid-

I can think of a few places you'd be interested in zine-wise. First, stop into the ABC No Rio Zine Library in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They have a huuuugee collection there and I'm the librarian on Sunday afternoons. http://www.abcnorio.org for hours and info.

Also, stop into Bluestockings Radical Bookstore, they sell tons of zines there. That's also in the Lower East Side, 172 Allen St. They're open every day from 11-11. It's collectively owned, and volunteer run. Sometimes they have zine readings. Pretty cool place.

Hope that helps!
Hello.I'm also visiting this winter (early January) and look forward to checking out some bookshops where zines are available! It's also worth keeping an eye on this group's events page ... I see there's an event on the 7th sponsored by two local NY zines. Great stuff.
I feel so fashionable! I am also thinking about visiting, in the last weekend of February, so I will be stealing any and all advice that gets given here and begging the guide-makers to release some tips early!
