Mixed Race, Multi Racial, mixie zine

Mixed Race, Multi Racial, mixie zine

I propose a zine about mixed race people, the mixie. The mixie experience is one worth documenting, and I invite anyone, mixie or not to participate in collecting some thoughts. First, we need an editorial team. Who would like to collaborate?

Mixed race zine

I started this page to collect prospective work about the global mixed race experience. Soon, I began to see the use of the page as a viewers' space as well. I encourage everyone who drops by to announce their presence and introduce themselves and whether they are a viewer or reader.

I hope nobody thinks this endeavor is exclusionary, because, I welcome creative, original work from ANYONE. As long as it is a solid comment about the mixed race experience and is respectful to everyone, I welcome its inclusion.

This is a long term project, an with the help of all our friends, we can make something unique.

Some ideas about presentation

It would be cool to design the zine for mobile viewing (so we can accomodate any kind of media) and a traditional print version. I am envisioning a zine we publish in color with photographs and…Continue

Hello, I'm interested in this zine both as a viewer/reader and a potential contributor. But I'm new to zines and zine creation, and I'm (slowly) putting together my first perzine, so perhaps after I prove my chops?

Everywhere All The Time #2: Bright Sunny Days, Dark Sacred Nights is the second issue of my travel media zine featuring stories from a year spent traveling and living in Ecuador. From hiking in the northern highlands to a shack on the Pacific coast, the zine spans terrain, time and mood through text and black and white photos. The writing is influenced by my identities – queer, mestiza, POC, feminist, writer, weirdo – and is cut by quotes from Junot Díaz, Gloria Anzaldúa and James Baldwin. 36 pages, typewritten/handwritten and some computer writing, black and white with color cover. Order (on Etsy) here!

Sure :) I can also reformat it to fit into the pages better.

Thanks for sharing Robyn. Can we talk about printing HYBRIDITY with two mini zine pages per full zine?

Comment by Robyn on March 14, 2013 at 4:26pm

Well, I'll just post an image here of the zine here. It's pretty short and in format to be printed and made into a mini zine. It's the easiest way for me to share for now. Sorry about the link not working  :/

Hello, Robyn! Glad to see some work has already been done about our subject. It looks like the link you offered is locked. Perhaps you can offer it another way? Thank you much!

Hello :) I might be interested in contributing to this zine.

I've made a little mini zine in the past about being mixed race that you can see/print here:

Also, here is a picture of me and my friend-I'm the one on the right. We are both mixed. I'll see if she'd be interested in being a part of this as well :D
