Ok For everyone interested in the next HOW TO swap, we will make the zines 1/4 size, page count however is all up to you, I don't want anyone to feel  limited or overwhelmed, but i do agree with Colin try to make your zine more than 4 pages. As for the collaboration zine, I agree too, I would need time and would like them to be done separately as well. I do like the idea of whoever collaborates it making a pdf to print, that's pretty cool and then you could print out copies to give to friends! I'll post up the swap info soon with a deadline of August 31st. Anyone want to handle the collaboration zine?

yeah 1/4 size sounds good. should there be a specific amount of pages done too, or no?

For the How-To Swap, I don't care if we standardize the size, but if we do 1/4-size sounds fine. I don't feel a need to specify page amounts as long as each one has enough pages to qualify as a booklet & not just a piece of paper folded half.

If we do a collaborative zine I'd personally prefer to do it after the swap because I'd like to do both but probably won't be able to if they're due at the same time (despite the small size). A page count guideline might be a good idea for this one. Instead of mailing copies, maybe the coordinator could send out a pdf for contributors to print their own.

"What is love?" (...baby don't hurt me, no more.) from Six North Zines is available for $1 on Etsy.

It's a black and white 8 page mini-zine.

I will trade :)

Find it on Etsy:

Or message me for trade.

I'm thinking these two zine ideas should be posted as two separate zines. We each make our own mini quarter page How-To zine, and also those who want to participate in a joint venture can also participate in that. They could both be due the end of August. We could choose to do one or both. What do you think?

I like the collaboration idea also. It would be fun to be a part of that as well. If you set up a size format for us to fit our copy to, we could all email our submissions to you, Jethro (or whom ever was coordinating the collaboration).  Then the coordinator could print out the results and distribute a copy to each of the participants. We could even make additional copies of it available as a fund-raiser for a good charity we all agree upon.

I'm good with the quarter-size format. And a How-to Zine would be great. With a widely diversified group, who know what kind of stuff I might learn to do - ha, ha! Is the suggested number of pages open for us to decide upon? Perhaps we should have a minimum, or a range of min to max number of pages? Or doesn't that matter to everyone?

I plan on getting my prep work going on this soon.

I like the idea of combining them for a How-To Collection / Encyclopedia. That's a good idea.

OH! I only have the theme, does anyone think it would be good to include a size? That way, as Rodeo suggested, you could put all the zines together and make a mini encyclopedia of sorts? If that's the case I think the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches would be a perfect size (1/4 size zine). let me know!
