Hi,
as you may or not know the library has an exhibition at Salford Art Gallery running from 15th October 2011 to 29th January 2012.
I am looking to show a film at the exhibition made up of short videos that contributers to the library have made of themselves. The video will explain why you personally self publish and about the zines you produce. To submit please email me your short talking head videos no longer than five minutes. I will compile and edit these together and add captions for the finished film. All are welcome to contribute to this project and I would like an eclectic range of zine makers to participate covering all the genres etc.
So wherever you are making your zines it would be great to hear from you.
To submit Zines the address is:
48 LANDOS COURT
MANCHESTER
M40 7WT
UNITED KINGDOM
Kind regards
Craig
Hello Everyone.
I have a 16 page mini comic available for trade. I have entitled it “Nobody is Perfect.” This mini is an existential piece on the importance of the individual to the make up of the larger society. Its sweet, truthful and tiny.
It was created as a final project for a comic making class in April 2010, Glendale Ca.. Adriana Yugovich (The Nerdegade) was my instructor. I originally made 15 copies to distribute to our small class and a few friends. This month I have decided to return to it and distribute it openly. So far, its been my first and only finished Mini Comic.
If anyone would like to trade, please send your zine/mini comic to the following:
Luna Blue
PO Box 704 Hwy 33
Westley, Ca 95387
As soon as I receive your goods, I will send off mine!
Or it can work the other way around as well.
Thank you

Comment by Jordan A. on June 20, 2011 at 11:16am Hi everyone!
I just wanted to share a mini-comic zine that my roommate and I made last month called The Bearniverse! It's a mini-comic collaboration about an alternative history where everyone in the universe have the minds of humans and the bodies of bears. If you click through the post, you can get to an online version of the zine itself and read it there.

a new double-sided accordion mini-zine of visual observations and
projections of social isolation.
It's waiting to be read at the palm of your hand!

I just wanna say hi: I didn't join this group at first because not all my zines are comics, and the ones that are, are rarely 100% pure comic (& my panels are always drawn wonky).
But I organised a Mini Comics Day this month in Newcastle, with the Paper Jam Comics Collective (of which I am part) and the Canny Little Library (a radical lending library in the venue where it was held). And it was great!
Adults and children sat together as equals, all working away on their own stories, and me at the photocopier getting the pages in the wrong order! Very well attended, a lovely atmosphere, and a great way to make comics accessible to newbies and interested folk.
(a report here; one resulting minicomic here; my own blog here)
So this year we in Newcastle were the only UK venue hosting the day, but it's an idea that deserves to grow - consider hosting it next time around!
If anyone likes comic diaries, that's the kind of zine I usually make, with the next one (about trying to stop bird killing in Malta) due back from the printers in a week or so: email me a postal address if you'd like a copy free.
Comment by Simon Moreton on April 14, 2011 at 8:44am The Sorry Entertainer Newspaper Anthology
Hey folks! We've put together an anthology of comics by self-publishers from the UK, Ireland, the US and Argentina. It's going to be printed as a newspaper and we're just fund-raising for the print costs at the moment. If you can spare a few pennies to donate to this project, you get copies of the paper and a bunch of comics and zines for your troubles. Info here:
http://www.indiegogo.com/The-Sorry-Entertainer
If you can't donate, no problem - but if you can help spread the word if this kind of thing is your bag, we'd be eternally grateful!
