Hi folks!

 

I'm excited that I'll soon be counted as a Midwestern resident of the US of A coming from that roughneck, urban hellhole known as NYC! (I can say that 'cause I'm actually a real New Yorker! :) )

 

Anywho, I'm happily relocating to the Madison, WI and happily discovered this neat  MeetUp Group for Madison zinesters that I wanted to share:

And the creator of this group is also helping to organize the Madison Zine Fest on Oct. 22, 2011! Time/Location TBD.

 

For the zine fest, she is seeking an answer to the following question:

"Does anyone know any movies, documentaries, or shorts related to zines, comics, or diy type book art in general that we could suggest to have played at Union South theater during zinefest? They are looking for suggestions."

Hi Folks, I'll be teaching a course on zines at Western Illinois University this spring. I'm looking for zinesters who are interested in possibly coming to talk to my class, participate in a zine reading at WIU, and/or have students in the course read your zines and contact you. Hi, Jane from Indianapolis. I've started Rebel Doll Zine. Issue #0 (the preview) is a free, mini 8 pocket zine. Issue #1 is being worked on and should be available end of September - it will be a half-size zine.

I just wanted to stop and say hi to other fellow Midwest zinesters! :)

Issue #3 of Pieces (¼ size, 40 pages) is now available for trade or purchase for $1 plus postage.

This issue was written over the span of two days during a not-so-wise writing experiment. It includes thoughts about why some people may drink to spur creativity, craving internal dialogue, loneliness, isolation from others and my writing, how bad decisions sometimes influence younger generations, and a handful of other disjointed thoughts.
