Hey folks.  While attending a rehabilitation program here in Vancouver, WA I was struck by how difficult it can be for intelligent people as myself to fit in to these programs, to SLOW DOWN and ACT like you're medicated, because that seems to be the only way people will acknowledge progress (I know, it's kind of sick and twisted).  I know a lot of the people on this forum have been to outpatient programs/groups, and this leads me to the offer I was thinking.  I would like to create a mental health system coping manual for those of us that have trouble communicating with people and understanding the basis of some of these programs.  To that end, any stories of survival in groups/outpatient programs and how people managed to still find help in them despite the odds would be welcome.  You would receive credit and a few copies to help spread the word.  Please email me at nick.kessler@comcast.net.

Hey everyone!  I work with a queer youth drop-in center and advocacy organization here in Vermont.  I'm going to be doing an ongoing zine group and was hoping for some donations to our zine library for youth to read and be inspired by.  I'm specifically looking for zines by queers (LGBTQQ) and/or that would be somehow relevant to queer youth (ages 13-22).  As queer youth are disproportionately impacted by substance abuse, suicide, homelessness, etc., zines related to these issues or promoting self care, etc are very welcome.  It would especially be great to have zines created by queer youth...  Just sayin!

Please feel free to get in touch if you're interested in donating or if you have any questions.

Hello! I finished the first issue of my perzine, "Lungless Salamander," about a month ago and have a fresh batch of copies from Kinko's as of today. Although the zine isn't meant to be specifically about mental health, mental health problems are a prominent recurring feature of my life and that fact tends to come up in my writing. I'd like to trade zines with anyone who is interested, especially seeing as I'm new to all this zine-making stuff...

I am collecting submissions for a zine written about and for people who hear voices.  Hearing voices is a more common experience than most people realise, and one that is detrimentally linked to mental health problems and to a negative, stereotyped view of people with mental health problems.  It has been argued that hearing voices is part of the human experience, and can be documented from the very beginning of our historical records.  I am open to any kind of submissions about the experience of hearing voices - whether your story is about yourself, about living with or caring for someone who hears voices (with their permission and/or appropriate annonymisation), about being diagnosed due to hearing voices, about positve or negative experiences of hearing voices, about one-off or ongoing experiences of hearing voices, about experiences of being labelled due to hearing voices.  Both personal and technical/academic writing is welcome in any format from prose to poetry and beyond.  Artwork is welcome.  Any submissions or questions about the project can be emailed to gadfi_um AT yahoo dot co dot uk

Hi Zinesters!
My name's Dawn. I am a former NYC public high school ESL teacher who taught zine-making to my students. Now, I'm in library school studying to become a community college/academic librarian, hopefully.

Anyway, I am currently in an information literacy pedagogy course, and doing a research process project with the following research question:
"How do high school teachers create effective zine projects to help students of all learning abilities improve in their writing skills?"

If any of you have/know of someone who has/or know of resources where I can find information related to this question, please reply to me at the following email address-

Thanks in advance!

I'm pulling together a collective of creative work by women around the world into a series of zines called Dainty As Fuck. I am asking you all very politely to submit creative material of any kind, be it poetry, short story (fiction or non-fiction), photography, drawings, or whatever else tickles your fancy. The aim is to have the first of the zines published by the 1st of January 2012, and will be available at Sticky in Melbourne CBD. If you do not live in the Melbourne area or wish to have an electronic copy sent to you, don't hestitate to email me.

Please email your submissions and/or any questions to fkyeahactivism@yahoo.com by the 1st of December 2011. I would greatly appreciate your input :)

Hi Mental Health zinesters. My zine isn't a mental health zine, but I wrote a light essay about some bipolar behavior in Shards of Glass In Your Eye! #5. It's free, wanna trade?
