The original idea behind my zine was very similar to yours, though it has drifted significantly away from that direction since.

Ultimately, I think it depends a lot on your area, overall goals, and access to materials. Here are a few things I learned from my experience...hopefully it is at least of some help.

I'd suggest keeping things as 'clean' looking as possible in terms of design. If you have experience/access to indesign, it may help you reach an older audience compared to a cut and paste style production. Try soliciting submissions from the community. Also, try distributing your zine at events that will have a diverse range of people...poetry readings or large comminity events are always great ways to reach a broad range of age groups in a short amount of time.

The most important thing is to not get discouraged if the zine doesn't take off initially. It takes a while to build interest in any community based publication, whether it's a small zine or a full scale newspaper. Good luck, and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

i just started a zine with some school-mates, the INFINATE zine...:). it's our little group project. we're trying to stretch the boarder from 'just school' stuff to including 'community' stuff. i kinda want it to feel like a great antique store - having items that are interesting to teens my age and also holding the interest of adults and older readers.

any tips??

seagerl, thats my zine name.. want to get my stuff out there... have even in the past given out my first zine on the street to people who 'looked' like they may like the content.. publishing is all new to me.. i do not have ezines, i am old school, hard copy... cut n paste... taboo issues, emotionally raw... just hanging out in West End, Australia...

While that looks really exciting, Stephanie, this is a zine community, not really a book one...

Dear Story To… Friends and Contributors,

We know we haven’t been in contact for quite some time and we do apologise but unfortunately it has been necessary for us to put Story To… on hold.

Beth and Chris have been tied up working on another project, Drone Magazine. Kate has been busy moving countries over the last few months and now resides in Taipei, Taiwan.

We are all currently in discussion about the fate of Story To… and will get back to you as soon as we can with further information. Thank you for your patience. We’ll be in touch again very soon.

The Story To… Team x

I'm collaborating as a writer with 12 other writers, artists and musicians this year. Part one's now done and you can order a copy of the numbered edition of 150 if you want - or read the text here. It's about our perceptions of the future, the past, stolen bike parts and Celebrity Big Brother.

I have an online zine: Shoots and Vines and also put it out in print. You can read it in open book.

I'm working on a rollerderby zine with my girls, two collaborations with friends, Outsider Writers mini zine, and preparing for S&V's second print issue due out in April.

I publish poetry, prose, flash fiction, art, and photography.

Anybody interested can give me a holler at shootsandvines@gmail.com.

A Poem a Day READY!

This zine that is ready is the culmination of my writing for the A Poem a Day exercise. It's not the big compilation zine containing work by many poets. This one is just me.

I am asking $2 or cool trade for it. It has over twenty new poems, all by me.
It's 22 pages, 8 and 1/2 by 5 and 1/2.

I think it's great! I hope other people will think so too.

To order it, write to me at PO Box 1483 Lawrence, KS 66044

It's great to see all the different lit zines.

I edit a small art/lit zine called Khubz, which is both online and in print. We mainly focus on art coming out of the Rustbelt, but will take submissions from all areas and disciplines. You can check it out at www.freewebs.com/khubzine or send submissions to khubzine@gmail.com
