Howdy – apologies for all the words…
I’m putting together a poncho-come-zine-library this summer that I’m gonna tour around some of the UK’s more generic-lit-fests to advocate DIY-publishing as a method of getting aspiring authors/writers/artists/whatevers to get their work out into the physical public domain and away from the ocean that is the internet. In the face of major publishers and profiteers, I hope to champion creativity and expressionism as a reason to distribute your work, rather than for the dolla.
I’m calling for ziners/zinesters to send me copies of their work so that I might wear their wares, to use as examples of the variety of creative work that you’ll come across exploring the all-powerful zine. It will help to draw attention to the artists included (I’ll keep contact info to point interested readers in the right direction), as well as encourage more into the community. Whether your art is the zine itself – or you use it as a medium to get your work across, whether your zine-making is politically charged or whimsical nonsence, I want to see it and use it to demonstrate the many splinters that this medium consists of. I’ll be sticking around England probably this summer, but I’d love to get work from around the world, in any language and targeting any demographic.
I’m getting materials together now for an event I’m attending in a months time, so the sooner you could send your work my way, the sooner I can start showing people how shit-hot you are. In return (include your mail address somewhere) I’ll be sending out copies of my short-story zine’s to those who want them (there also available here: irreverentink.bigcartel.com where I waffle on more about what I’m trying to do). Please get in touch with us through the site, or @apstwatter, or skip cordialities and send stuff straight to:
Irreverent Ink 123 Josiah RdNorthfieldBirminghamB31 5DG
I’ll try and tweet reviews of what I’m sent, and equally would appreciate all the plugs. Much love and many many high fives.

Like Lightning #2 - 1/4-sized, 24 pages, blue opalescent card-stock cover with gold lightning bolt decal.
Like the first issue, Like Lightning #2’s format is inspired by Anne Carson’s “Short Talks”—brief vignettes on various topics. Unlike the first issue, #2 shares snapshots of a single story. Our woman burns down her childhood home, changes her name and hair color and runs away, first south, then west, to find a new place and state of existence. Sort of a perzine, sort of a literary zine.
On Adairs Run
Driving through the mountains fills her with joy and sadness. The angry crags, the ravines, the rusty train tracks cutting through the terrain, the long, winding roads leading off to nowhere, the intersections with two cars, the small, secluded houses, the rundown, clapboard fruit stands teetering over the soft shoulders of Adairs Run. If only she could press down her palm, flatten everything out and then sprinkle a layer of dust, she’d feel as though she’s made it to her Oklahoma. So close, and yet. She see rivers and rusted-out pick-up trucks and people fly-fishing. The sun singes the trees red.

LTLE - Letters To the LTLE Editor is a new zine comprised entirely of letters to the editor. It celebrates incoherence, apocrypha, irrelevance, and unworkable specificity.
I am the editor. The letters can be about anything - current news, old news, personal rants & loves, responses to past letters, or they can be about no discernible topic. The point is that their incoherence, worthlessness or extreme specificity will present no obstacle to their publication.
The minimum wordcount is 1. The maximum wordcount is ~200. All contributors receive a copy of the zine. Notional deadline is October 10, 2014.

Just finished a few zines. Most of them are free. You can see them all on Etsy or on my website.
Hand Job Zine Issue 6 is in the making!
As always, we are looking for new and varied writing and artwork to publish in our pages.
If you have never heard of us before, we are a UK anarchist literary zine, although our writing and artwork doesn't always have to represent our political view it does have to be truly British. This is the only real guideline. We like it to represent the people and places that usually get forgotten by the media and be honest in it's content. If you don't think it fits with this though, send it on over anyway as we do love a good story!
Also, if anyone is interested in illustrating a story or poem this is an area that we really like to pursue, so drop us an email with a link to some of your work and we'll try to send you something out that seems to fit with your style.
Look forward to the subs!
All the best,
Hand Job Zine
