We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Let's Trade Zines!

This is a group designed specifically for trading your zine for someone elses. Post a decription of your zine or contact some people in the group directly!

I realised there wasn't a group on WMZ specific to zine trades so I wanted to get something in place so that people can pool together their interest in trading.

Thanks for making this the biggest group on We Make Zines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone seems to post a new thread in the forum when they want to share their zines but why not just come to one group where you know people are going to be receptive when you want to share with them!

Do you like zines? How about feminism? Because second annual NYC Feminist Zine Fest is coming up! Mark your calenders for March 1st, 2014 from 1-6pm. This time we will be at Barnard College in uptown Manhattan, 3009 Broadway in the James Room on the 4th floor of Barnard Hall. The space is handicap accessible.

We will be opening the call for tablers very soon, so if you’re a zinester or artist interested in sharing your work, keep an eye on our website (http://feministzinefestnyc.wordpress.com/) for updates. We also need volunteers to help the day run smoothly so if you think that sounds like you (or you have questions in general), email us at feministzinefestnyc@gmail.com! RSVP to the WMZ event here!

I do swaps and sell but also have an Etsy, I find it pretty easy and I have sold about a dozen... also someone found me through my Etsy to stock a few of my zines in Canada (I'm in the uk) so that's pretty cool.

Pioneers Press is good for sampling a bundle of zines in a pack. You can pick specific genres or try a grab bag.

James & Mike: I have a regular batch of trading partners, I have a few "subscribers", and I give a few away to friends & relatives. One of these days, I'll try to get a spot on ETSY and maybe send some to distros (like Atomic, etc.) & see if they'll offer them in their stores. I put some personal info in 'em but I'm not out to write a "tell all" memoir so it's not too deep. I'm always looking for other trading partners but it doesn't make sense for me (or anyone else) to trade continuously for something you don't like. But, it never hurts to check something new out; you may be surprised!

Thanks. Those are questions for anybody.

Comment by Mike Nobody on January 15, 2014 at 9:20am

Are those questions for me?

I am just getting started on zines.

But, I have some experience with music.

So, I am basically doing everything similar as releasing a record, which my zines kinda are, in a way.

I generally avoid publishing anything that I don't want biting me in the ass later.

But, anything that might be sensitive I wouldn't give to friends or family anyway.

I agree with Mike Nobody.

So, how do you distribute your 'zines? And do you give them to family and friends, even if it expresses extremely personal stuff in 'em?

Where is everybody?

This site is pretty dead, lately.

The Latest issue of the Ken Chronicles is finished (#30, Feb., 2014) and ready for mailing. It's digest-size, 24-pages, and contains a piece on choosing a portable iPod speaker dock; some memories of past jobs I suffered through; a trip to Baltimore/Annapolis; some reviews of zines, a book and film; lots of photos; and some random thoughts. On its way to my regular trading partners and available for $3, postpaid, to the USA; always interested in trades (what have you got?).

I look at all your zines and want to make mine look great too. Can you masters of zine tell me what is the best software to use and why you think so? I want to use the pick of the liter program, but am not sure which is best and what features make it that way.

Much thanks,
