Hello friends, I am putting out a call for writing, art, comics, photographs, on the practical and philosophical aspects of gender, sexuality, bodies, and queerness.
Personal experiences (good, bad, and other), philosophies, rants, funny stories, observations, interviews, dreams of the future. Ultimately, I want to put a zine out that is a positive fuck yeah for queernessi, transgenderisms, bodies, sexualities, and ultra wave inclusive feminism. A recognition that all oppressions are interconnected, and the time is now to share our stories and deconstruct the dead ends.
Years ago I did four issues of a crudely similar zine called “Girl-Boy” with a co-editor.
It was a fun and enlightening exploration, I want to do it again, this time with everybody!
After the submissions have been picked and assembled I will submit the final zine to an awesome independent publisher. I might also put it on a blog thing for the world to share. If you want to specify rights reserved in your works, write that on the work, or let me know in some way. This is not a profit venture, it is to share experience and open minds, our own, and anyone that reads.
If you have suggestions for a title, please send them in! My original brainstorm title idea “Beyond Girl-Boy” seems entirely cheesy. My new working title is: “Future Fuck All”.
Deadline is Novemebr 1st, 2009.
Drop me a note if you have questions.
- Robert

I'm looking for submissions for a one-off zine called I'm Not Like Other Girls.

What I want women and girls to do is to complete the sentence,
"I'm not like other girls because..."

I will make a zine of the responses.

The sentence will appear randomly placed, with all credits at the end, so your sentence and your credit aren't linked. This may help you to be more open, and the zine will flow much better too.

They may be categorised by theme, but that will depend on the submissions.

If you want to contribute, email me at incurable.hippie@googlemail.com

1) Put 'I'm not like other girls' in the subject line.
2) Email me your sentence (I'm not like other girls because...)
3) Tell me if you want to be anonymous.
4) If you want to be credited, tell me how (name / pseudonym, name of zine, etc)
5) If you want to receive a contributors' copy when it's ready, tell me your address too.

I can't guarantee your words will be put in the zine, but it's very likely. I only want submissions from women and girls.

My first ever 24 hour zine is ready for you!

It is called Open Book, and it's a perzine. I'm a feminist, so I think it's a feminist zine.

It includes 38 things about me (and a shout out to Eunice for the idea), the story of why I live in Lawrence, KS, writing about my body image issues, and a piece about my recent run in with 81 chiggers and a tick. There's more, but I'll let some things be a surprise.

If anyone wants a copy, I'm asking $1 for it, or let's trade your lovely zine for my lovely zine.

You can write to me at

PO Box 1483

i think i fall under that category. i call my zine a zine about "life, feminism and learning to love yourself" because i incorporate all of these things into my zine. i have personal stories, pieces specifically on feminism and lots about the struggle of learning to love yourself. i'm not very political-more of the personal is political kind of thing.

i'm relatively new and thought i'd say hi. i used to do a zine called madcow for the university of toronto women's centre. my new zine's a lot less explicitly political, in fact it's organized around monsters. any other feminists out there making zines informed by feminism that aren't necessarily, "political?"
