Just to let people in this part of the world know: Sister Spit are coming to the UK! Sister Spit are an amazing grrrl/queer spoken word and performance groupl from the US, led by Michelle Tea (Rent Girl, Valencia etc). Many of the performers are zinesters including Cristy Road & Chelsea Starr, and they will be bringing their special brand of literary mayhem to Europe & the UK in September, including London:
Saturday 5th September, rampART social centre, 15-17 Rampart Street London E1 2LA
8pm, entry by donation
DJs will follow, and zine distros will be running throughout the night!

My first ever 24 hour zine is ready for you!

It is called Open Book, and it's a perzine. I'm a feminist, so I think it's a feminist zine.

It includes 38 things about me (and a shout out to Eunice for the idea), the story of why I live in Lawrence, KS, writing about my body image issues, and a piece about my recent run in with 81 chiggers and a tick. There's more, but I'll let some things be a surprise.

If anyone wants a copy, I'm asking $1 for it, or let's trade your lovely zine for my lovely zine.

You can write to me at

i think i fall under that category. i call my zine a zine about "life, feminism and learning to love yourself" because i incorporate all of these things into my zine. i have personal stories, pieces specifically on feminism and lots about the struggle of learning to love yourself. i'm not very political-more of the personal is political kind of thing.

i'm relatively new and thought i'd say hi. i used to do a zine called madcow for the university of toronto women's centre. my new zine's a lot less explicitly political, in fact it's organized around monsters. any other feminists out there making zines informed by feminism that aren't necessarily, "political?"

I'm one of those sex positive feminists, and I've put together a collection of my hot, sexy, sex writing. The writing is from a feminist perspective and emphasizes women's pleasure.

Adult Themes is half size, with 49 pages of poetry and prose, fact and fiction. I am asking $2 or trade for it. The writing is sexually explicit and intended for a mature audience, so consider yourself warned. If you want a copy, please send an age statement along with your order. (I just want to cover my ass here.)

You can learn more about the zine and read a sample from it on my blog.

I finished laying out my new zine, Mistaken for Straight and will take it to the copy shop this morning. I'll soon have plenty of copies to sell or trade. It's not a zine about feminism, but I think because I am a feminist, this zine comes from a feminist perspective. I definitely contemplate gender roles here.

The zine has 33 pages and is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.

I am asking $2 a copy, and I will for sure take trades. (I love trades.)

Here's a description from the front cover:

"Contemplation on identity, sexual orientation, bisexuality, queerness, gender roles, and the possibility of liberation"

"Includes definitions, rants, confusion, poems, coming out stories, frustration, and info on reading material"

Send $$$$ or trades to

Im a volunteer for a women's charity called Eaves and it's a support service for those women how have experienced sexual violence and need support.

i was asked by the managers if i knew of some feminist zine makers who would be happy to either give or give cheaply zines - as there is nothing for the women to read when they arrive.

if you'd like to have your zine at eaves i'd love to hear from you. it's very much a positive charity, and open too.
