Love Me, Love My Belly is a body image zine seeking submissions primarily of creative nonfiction (personal and lyric essays included) and poetry (prose & free verse, lyric or narrative, though we lean slightly toward lyric in taste.)

Love Me, Love My Belly (LMLMB) is an annual print zine dedicated to the acceptance of self and imperfection as beauty. It’s about the space between us, our differences, our scars, our wobbly bits, and our power as it relates to the bodies we live in. We consider art both visual and verbal, that venerates the body in every shape and size, age, ability, and identity. Potential ranges from doodles to photographs, poems to letters, essays, and pretty much everything in between. Though the zine is primarily a work of creative nonfiction or poetry, about personal experience of living inside the human body, fiction is considered.

We're currently reading for our second issue. Our first can be found on our website: http://lovemelovemybelly.wordpress.com/archives. The first issue includes 6 essays, 6 poems, and art by 2 artists. We'd love to see more and have a special interest in including a few bits of sequential art or comics.

Payment is in one handbound copy of the issue in which your work appears. Full guidelines can be found here: http://lovemelovemybelly.wordpress.com/submit/

We read via Submittable. https://belly.submittable.com/submit

Potential prompts:

Tell us about your scars and how you got them. What’s the road map of your body?
Scars mean you’re a survivor. What’s your story?
In what ways do you honor your body?
How has aging affected your body and identity?
What about your body do you celebrate?
In what life-changing moment were you singularly aware of your body?
What secrets does your body keep or show?

Hello!  I'm happy to have joined your group.  I am fat and very sexy.  I make a sex zine called my buoyancy, an effortless feeling.  The first issue is about body image, BDSM, PTSD, sexual violence, sexual healing, and being radical.  I talk about my fatness throughout.  Maybe you would enjoy it, and it's available for trade, so please message me here or email me at nestnestnestnestnest at gmail.  Thank you.

Hey friends! I recently posted a blog post about my zine and my connection to the zine community. I also put a bunch of my zines up on my etsy shop. I'd love it if you could check them out! <3

NEW YORK CITY FEMINIST ZINE FEST 2014

Do you like zines? How about feminism? Because second annual NYC Feminist Zine Fest is coming up! Mark your calenders for March 1st, 2014 from 1-6pm. This time we will be at Barnard College in uptown Manhattan, 3009 Broadway in the James Room on the 4th floor of Barnard Hall. The space is handicap accessible.

We will be opening the call for tablers very soon, so if you’re a zinester or artist interested in sharing your work, keep an eye on our website (http://feministzinefestnyc.wordpress.com/) for updates. We also need volunteers to help the day run smoothly so if you think that sounds like you (or you have questions in general), email us at feministzinefestnyc@gmail.com! RSVP to the WMZ event here!

So glad to have found this group! I have a new zine coming out very soon called Body Riot. It's theme is body positive, fat acceptance, feminism and self love. The zine is based of submissions from women (and men) all over. Art, comics, essays, rants and poems.

I will be taking submissions for the next issue once this one comes out (should be in a couple weeks).
