We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

I am lost with the trends for s/s 09 :O i've been researching for key elements on what will be the distinguishing elements this season but I can't seem to find any. It's almost as if ever designer launching their new collection have different ideas. can anyone give any enlightenment on this one? thanks!

this is the time i year when i devour fashion magazines in order to gain inspiration for my spring and summer collections and this year is a total crapshoot.
there is no definitive statement. its kind of everything goes for 2009.
i've been told that orange and green are two big colours for spring. i'm also hearing that pink is a good choice as well, especially closer to summer.

unfortunately, a lot of the stuff i'm seeing repeats of in the magazines are not good (in my opinion). jumpsuits and onesies (not a plan for most people, thanks a lot katy perry). pleated and paperbag waist pants. really really tall heels on shoes (4 inches plus). things that are not really wearable by everyone.

mind you, on the runway there seems to be loads of pattern still, vintage inspired tailoring and hats everywhere. hats and fascinators are only going to get bigger this year in my opinion. its time for a come-back.

i think we've come into a time when its not really about the pieces of clothing you have anymore, its more about how you put them together to make things interesting. that's sort of how i'm reading things this season.

I've been hogging all of my cousin's magazines (I'm too broke to buy my own copies right now) for the last few weeks, trying to figure out the up and coming trends but it's really so different everywhere... I've seen way different things from shoulderpads (80s inspired?), to long dresses with bold prints, to trouser shorts and boho tops from a few seasons ago... i just can find any key definitive thing... :[
Personally, I'm embracing the fact that the designer collections are all over the place. It means people will stop following what they are told to wear and start taking a completely independent view on what is cool and beautiful.
