“The Funny Female Issue”
In the mist of the whole “feminism & comedy” debate this summer after the Daniel Tosh fiasco (where he told a girl in the audience that he would find it amusing if she were gang raped), people were beginning to make false claims that feminists were being “too serious” and couldn’t “take a joke” . I thought about how the feminists in my life are the most hilarious people I have ever known. I reflected upon the funny female comedians, writers and humorous women on television that I have listened to, read and watched for years. I knew what the next theme of my fanzine needed to be…
This diverse 38 page issue contains a variety of submissions and pieces from hilarious self-identified feminists. Subject matter ranges from feminist performance pieces (“Size 2 Pants”-Guerrilla Girls on Tour!, “How to seduce a feminist”-Sarah Fox), Feminist Disney, comics ( “The Migrant Rights Activista on Her 21st B-day” “El Senor Bobo..”) the five stages of death concerning feminism within pop, men’s menstruation, satirical feminist songs, the debate between comedy and feminism itself, feminist jokes, Female Comics of Color, Samantha Bee on Abortion, “The Wisdom of Fran Lebowitz”, Daria Morgendorffer, fictional heroines and more! This issue is dedicated to every feminist who has ever been labeled “too angry” “too serious” or “too uptight”.

Comment by Crysta on July 13, 2012 at 1:01pm Help me find a zine?
I found this zine online probably around the mid 00s. It was run by two Courtney Love grunge inspired bleach blond teen girls (I think from the UK??) and possibly called Cherry Bomb or something similar. They had a bad ass website with lists of their fav hotties, recipies, reviews, etc. They are the reason I got into zines and I'd very much like to re-visit their site or zines if possible.
Do you know who I'm talking about? You can email me at pronouncedchris@hotmail.com

Submission Guidelines for issue #4 of my fanzine Muchacha
Theme: “Who Says Feminists Don’t Have A Sense Of Humor?”
The purpose of this issue is to combat the stereotype that feminists are always angry/unfunny/too serious/uptight. I’m looking for satirical/humorous thoughts, poetry, stories, essays, quotes, rants, analysis, art, collages, doodles, comics, or photography from a feminist perspective. Whether it’s half a page or 4 pages, e-mail me at Riotgrrrl56@yahoo.com to submit your work. The deadline is September 1st. Help me in reclaiming the fact that “funny feminist” is not an oxymoron.
Love & Revolution,
Daisy
"Feminist humor raises consciousness. And the reason it's funny is because it stands something on its head. Goodness knows you've got to have a sense of humor if you do feminism full-time, I tell you." - Eleanor Smeal

Comment by Necro Neil on March 8, 2012 at 4:35am Have always made fanzines about things Im fans of! Bands and now horror films. I used to love the music ones my friends produced in the 90s: The Exclusive, Organ, Gumdrops and Saturdays (Tori Amos)...so many that I have forgotten the name of! I always have used the cut and paste a5 black and white, I find it so great to put together and it looks great. I use magazines as background to stick writing onto.
Self promo, my horror film zine is out now ;) http://www.etsy.com/listing/76510221/necronomicon-22-uk-horror-fanz...
