how do you charge for shipping?

I've heard a handful suggest ppd, but what if i want to give them options between 1st class and flatrate? i am boggled. i have a shopping cart and i guess the eaiest option is to di it ppd... but how do people give options for their shopping cart? and what if they are from a different country?

I used paypal and did it by weight, not postage paid. For each zine's button I added the retail price, plus how many ounces it cost. Then I edited how much shipping would actually cost. I had a range, like 1-4 oz = $x shipping & handling. So for some orders, I gain a little extra on shipping, some I lose a little...all in all it's evened out so I'm not losing money.

I do first class shipping, international is priority and I did the same thing. International I'll probably lose money on as I just based it off of shipping to the UK. We'll see how that goes. I might have to modify it at some point.
