We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Hello everybody. I started a zine distro about 2 months ago (Zinemonger). As the distro only stocks free zines I thought I'd be inundated with orders but in fact trade's been a bit sluggish. I've sent out a few flyers. I've also posted quite often in places like LJ and Photocopy Heart but am wary of overdoing that and irritating people. Any tips for boosting the profile of my distro?

I don't have any dazzling suggestions, but maybe try:
- posting a pdf & jpg copy of the flyer on your website for people to print &/or repost (as well as an image people can use to link back to your site)
- include your site's name, address, & maybe short description as a signature in your email and forum posts.
- maybe build local relationships with places that might appreciate free material - libraries, bookstores, infoshops, coffee shops & restaurants, maybe even hip doctors & dentists.

Good luck!
There are a bunch of "free stuff" communities online -- people who are interested in obtaining stuff free (or for the cost of postage) who trade tips and links, etc. I don't know if you're interested in targeting these folks, but it could be a way to get zines into the hands of people who would never otherwise come in contact with them.
That's helfpul. Ta.
