Arcane Angles Zine (had trouble posting image)...see my page for additional visual info.

Summed up, it covers lesser known items about the Paranormal, the Occult, and the Bizarre with detailed research, some of my personal experiences, and some conjecture.

The 1st issue covers: 

1) EVPs (electronic voice phenomena)...i.e. voices of spirits- "What you don't know".  This is written with a lot of first hand knowledge, as I have been working with EVPs for about 2 years, and have a lot of luck through communicating with the dead through special electronic devices.  Another recurring theme of the zine is simple "how-to" explanations...such as how to records EVPs, as well as other simple paranormal endeavors.

2) The Dark Side of the Roman Catholic Church - This once again covers some of experiences in the Church, then goes into a long explanation of how some Satanists hide within the Church getting into little-known French Occult figures from the 19th century.

3) Left Handed Vodun (ie the evil side of Voodoo) - Here I try to tease out the degree of Voodoo being practiced in Houston and Texas in general, as this is where I'm from.  I trash a woman I call the "Vagisil Cream Woman" and speculate that voodoo might be practiced in the cemeteries in Galveston, TX, an Island nearby Houston.  These cemeteries contain many mausoleums that are loosely secured, devoid of caskets or bones.

This is also a sub-genre of the magazine...macabre items.

4) the last part of the first issue is entitled "The Minority of the Living:  Life Amongst Necropolises", and covers briefly the strange topic of people who have, and do live in cemeteries.

More details on the zine:

I'm trying to make every issue roughly 16 pages back and front on 8 1/2 by 11 paper in 10 pt. font.  The first issue does not contain any original artwork by me, but does have some rare and little-known photos that are quite interesting.  Later issues I plan to have more of my original artwork.  I'm trying to do four issues a year, i.e. a quartlerly publication.

Dear Labrinthians,

We are writing to inform you that Issue #001 is now live on the site. It will remain live until August 5th, 2012. Then, it will remain in our archives, indefinitely. There is a link at the very bottom of this month's issue for you to download the .pdf version of Issue #001.

This also means that the reading period for "the in-between" and Issue #002 is now open. So, send us your work! Issue #002 will not be published until September 5th, but during the month of August we will publish and "feature" one poem every other day. So, by submitting during the reading period, you are consenting to be considered for both "the in-between" and "Issue #002". If you would only like to be considered for one of these things, please specify in your submission.

Aberration Labyrinth is looking for horror submissions as well! 

Aberration Labyrinth is a baby as far as poetry rags go, but our claws are out and ready to strike the web with gusto. Our goal is to publish a small amount of AMAZING work (about 10 poems every month). But, we're not looking for just anything. This is a publication that plans to blur the lines of traditional poetry. Too many publications have a narrow definition of what poetry is or what it should be. We done. In fact, we treasure poetry that strays from the path. We want raw, evocative, emotional poetry. We love imagery. While we don't traditionally like rhymes, we are not opposed to them if they are done well. We love the free verse; we also love the aubade. The form is up to you.

 

We do not want:

• Nature Poems
• Religious Poems
• Boring Poems

Instead, please send us:

• Trash Poetry
• Nerdy Poetry
• Horror Poetry

At this time, we cannot offer compensation for our work (other than some potential web fame). We will, however, post a .pdf version of each issue, available for download. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: ASUANG by PAPER MONSTER PRESS

Asuang is an umbrella term for creatures that people our imagination. As blood suckers, they engender in us, a fear of the dark, of morbidity, of paleness, of incense. The fear that desires, the fear that suffocates, not just creatures but open spaces and high places. Fear of beings that when looked at mirrors or through other eyes, resemble perhaps, ourselves? Then here maybe, there be monsters?

Asuang then calls not just for darkness but for hallucinogen, psychedelia, kaleidoscopic narratives in whatever genre.

Specifically, we ask for:
1. 1-3 poems/ essays/ flash fiction (less than 500 words, English or Filipino)

2. 1-3 artworks in black/ white (in JPEG format)

Dear Shane, I tried to kill myself

This zine chronicles my last severe depressive episode leading up to and including my suicide attempts and subsequent hospitalization. It's honest and raw and most definitely triggering (suicide, depression, self injury, disordered eating, gender dysphoria, criminal activity, anxiety, grief), but I wrote it with the idea in mind, what would have made me feel less alone when I was feeling incredibly depressed and suicidal every single minute of every day? I identify as trans and queer and my zine couldn't escape the smattering of queerness that is injected into every part of my life; the zine was originally a letter penned to a boy I had a huge crush on at the time. I feel really proud of this zine, and I'm hoping you'll like it, too.

"Le Stoner's Digest is a new fiction zine written by two french dudes ( with some help from Displaced Snail's very own J. Carlough!). It is sleazy, violent, fun, what can i say, it's PULP as FUCK.

First issue is about big knives and psycho killers, and you should not let your kids read it. I mean, seriously, why would you give them some cheap-ass zine when they could be entertaining themselves with Cosmopolitan or some cool mag with high-end cars and big boobs?

Contains 5 profanity-littered original stories, and plenty of illustrations. 32 A5 pages of gorgeous 120g paper, with a manly 200g cover, and the supplement is a short story by Phillibert Mossberg printed on that awesome but weirdly formatted paper i once found in the street in Paris. True story!"
