The first fundraiser for the Chicago Zine Fest is coming up! Get involved, help CZF and meet other local zinesters during... Zinester Speed Dating!

Join us for an evening of meeting other members of the self-publishing community. The term "speed dating" conjures up thoughts of romance, but in this case, we're using the speed dating format for platonic purposes. You will have the opportunity to meet every participant, and talk with them about yourself and your zines. After four minutes you move on to the next participant. At the end of the night we'll have an open mingling session, when you can continue conversations and trade zines! This should be a lot of fun, and great practice for talking about your zine in a concise way.

We hope you will join us for this fundraiser for the 2011 Chicago Zine Fest. You have to register to participate, and space is limited, so sign up today!

Hey Chicago Zinesters!

We wanted to make sure you knew about our new monthly working get-together here at Quimby's, which we're calling Work In Progress. This is a copy of what we just posted on our blog:

Work In Progress is from 7-8:30pm on the last Wednesday of the month. You can bring your current project and work on it in a social atmosphere. If you're looking for critiques or advice, you can get it from fellow attendees. If you just want somewhere outside of your dark basement apartment to work on that new zine, this is the event you want to go to.

If you're looking to meet more folks in the city who are making fun stuff, stop by! We're hoping this monthly series will become a positive space for self-publishers and other creative types here in Chicago.

Spread the word, Work In Progress is this Wednesday, and the last Wednesday of every month!

Llet us know if you have any questions!
