Hi Nichole! Welcome to the city! If you ever want to meet up I can take you to a really amazing collection of art books/ zines. It's super inspiring.

Having moved to Chicago just a few months ago, I got to thinking about the Chicago zinesters and how I'd love meeting the people whose zines I read. I'm trying to get over my whole shyness, new-girl thing. Maybe this will be a good way to do that!

is there a way to make it so the comment wall displays the comments from newest to oldest - instead of from oldest to newest?

that would be cool :)

Where can I get info on the Chicago Zine Fest?

Hey Chicagoans,
There's a group forming to create an Independent Publishing Resource Center in Chicago (like what they have in Portland), and we're having a general interest meeting at Quimby's Bookstore at 9pm on Thursday, the 16th. Come with ideas! Come with questions! If the door is locked when you get there, just knock on it, and we'll let you in.

Those of us who have talked about it so far, are thinking we should start off small: an office space with a photocopier and basic supplies (paper, papercutter, staplers, etc), growing from there, and working with (rather than reproducing the work of) other organizations that are doing great things for Chicago self publishers (CUL, Spudnik). I'm really interested in making it a 501c3 organization. We'll be looking for all levels of involvement, including a small group of main organizers, who can invest a good chunk of time to this. The goal is to have it running by the end of 2011. Hope to see you there! If you can't but want to be involved send me a message on this site. AWESOME!

Hi Folks, I'll be teaching a course on zines at Western Illinois University this spring. I'm looking for zinesters who are interested in possibly coming to talk to my class, participate in a zine reading at WIU, and/or have students in the course read your zines and contact you. If you're up for it, you can send me a message here or email me at rebekahb (at) temple.edu. Feel free to pass this info on to other folks who may be interested. (I also posted this on the Midwest Zinesters Group, so sorry if you read it twice.) Thanks!!
