We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

I just happened on this while looking for a zine library and was so excited! Here is the link:

http://www.yearofscience2009.org/about/zine-contest.html

You make a minizine related to a science theme (they even have suggestions), a panel of "scientists, artists, and students from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Field Museum of Natural History" will evaluate them and choose the winners. First prize is $500, plus there are two other prizes for $250 each! Not only is that a nice bonus for making a zine (something I do for NO monetary reward!) just about anyone can enter, including kids and teens - so if you know kids who'd be interested you should tell them about it! And, at the very least, you can learn something about science and have fun making a new zine with a kid you know.
You have a while for the deadline (11/1/09), so why not? I know I'm totally doing it!
Good luck!
