Call for submissions for EIGHT AND NO HALVES FANZINE (about 8mm movies and filmmaking, especially underground)

It’ll be in a similar vein to Brodsky & Treadway’s Little Film Notebook, but will also cover experimental/underground/avant-garde Super 8 filmmakers, rather than simply resources for small format filmmakers (most of which can easily be found online).

I’m interested in 8mm filmmaking tips and tricks, bizarre mistakes, bizarre malfunctions, accidentally weird results, 8mm movies you like, your thoughts on the future of the format… Anything 8mm film-related, really!

Filmmakers can send in a short (50 words or less) bio, mentioning your favorite film(s) that you’ve made and how to get it/them.

So, if you have anything 8mm film-related that you would like to submit, send it to:
8 and No Halves, Box 322, Olney, MD. 20830
Or shoot off an email to: thedoctor856 (at) gmail (dot) com

The digital formats I accept are Google Docs, PDF, OpenDocument, and HTML. Images can be PNG, TIFF, JPEG, GIF, or EPS, at 300 DPI. All submissions must be optimized for black and white photocopying. Layout for this zine is half-size, cut-and-paste, typewriter/handwriting.

Deadline is August 31, 2010. (likely to be extended)

Call for submissions for ASEXY LIFE (zine on asexuality)

I'm looking for thoughts, stories, and reflections on the topic from someone who identifies as asexual/gray-A/demisexual. Submissions could describe experiences you may have had discovering this identity, experiences with relationships, coming out to family/friends, how asexuality affects your everyday life, etc.

Send in your writings, drawings, photographs, prints, collages, WHATEVER expressions that can be photocopied onto paper on the subject of asexuality and living as an asexual. Make sure to include the name you would like to see your submission printed alongside. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, that’s fine too, although ideally, I would like to include at least your first name and then the city/state you reside in. Contribution length can be anywhere from about one paragraph to two pages.

The deadline for submission is Fri, Aug 6th 2010(i know it's soon but I'm trying to finish this before class starts again). You can send submissions to sidewalkscene@gmail.com.

Thanks everyone!

If you have a call for submissions you'd like published in the next issue of Photocopy Press (a little review zine), please let me know. The next issue probably won't be until Fall 2010, so please make sure the projects you are looking for submissions for are long range/not due until past September 2010.

I'm starting my next zine (one-shot, series? who knows!) about Collecting - what do you collect and why?
Short submissions desired - 450 words or less. Visuals, line drawings, illustrations, photographs are strongly encouraged as well. However they need to be B&W reproducible.

Send submissions and questions to me at goodbyedoggy@gmail.com

Call for Submissions/Donations
Radical Southern Zine Archive Project
University of Alabama

The University of Alabama is looking for submissions/donations for a new archive that will collect zines from Southern authors, and zines about Southern experience. This collection will be housed within the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library and once cataloged will be available for any scholar or zine enthusiast looking for research opportunities or just a nice afternoon read. This project began as the brainchild of our students and staff who have been creating zines, using zines in the classroom, and have a general love of all things zine related.

The goal of the collection is to gather together the work of individuals who are writing in the South, writing about the South and zinsters who are Southerners living across the world. It is our belief and hope that the Radical Southern Zine Archive will help bring together the work being produced everywhere about the South and house it where all can enjoy it. We want all those Southern perspectives so send us your zines and let’s get this process started. If anyone has any questions please email us and we will get back to you ASAP.

The official opening of the Radical Southern Zine Archive will take place in September, and will kick off a yearlong celebration of the zine and the zine community. We look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.

Send your zines to:
Radical South Zine Archive
PO Box 869066
Tuscaloosa, AL 35486-0081

* Submissions wanted on SECRET CRUSHES...*

Do you have a secret crush? Are you in a relationship where this can't be pursued? Do you feel like the object of your affection is out of your league? Is the object of your affection already in a relationship? Are you fantasising about long, hot nights of passion with your crush? If so, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Please contact me with any pieces/artwork/poems on your secret crush. It's entirely up to you if you want to put your name on or not.

PS Your secret is safe with me :) x

I am making a zine of bad heavy metal and hair band fan art. You know how back in 7th grade your art teacher wanted you to draw a portrait and you made a pencil sketching of your Guns N Roses poster? And you never showed it to anyone because it sucked too much? Well I want to compile all of this so we can laugh at ourselves. Please if you have something you'd like to include, email me a photo of it or better yet send me the actual thing in the mail if you're willing to part with it. imustbedelirious@yahoo.com.

Send with contact details and such, so I can credit you properly. Email me at raceatinternalmonologue[at]hotmail.com
