What are the questions you would ask an advice column if the topic had to be about food?

The zine I compile, Cherry Bomb, needs submissions for it's fourth issue! If you have something you'd like to submit, I'd love to publish it. Email it to cherrybombzine@hotmail.com and of course you'll get a copy of the zine once it's together :) You can get a bit of an idea of what the zine's about at the website, cherrybombzine.tumblr.com. Thanks so much!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: FIRESTARTER!

I’m the trouble starter/ fuckin’ instigator
I’m the fear addicted/ danger illustrated
-Firestarter, The Prodigy

From the original firestarter, Prometheus, who brought man the gift (or curse?) of fire to the decadent rebel without a cause, James Dean, the anti-heroes have always intrigued and haunted the imagination. This issue is about the instigators, the misfits, the tricksters; the ordinary denizens of the world made extraordinary by their gift of rebellion.

Specifically, we ask for:
1. cover art (front and back cover) with the words PAPER MONSTER PRESS and FIRESTARTER in the front cover. This can be colored or black and white as you wish. It must be in JPEG or PDF format.
2. literary works (poetry, fiction, essay, or whatever format of word art you prefer) in English/Filipino/ other languages (as long as it has a translation in English or Filipino). The limit is 500 words for each piece.
3. black and white artworks for the inside pages in JPEG or PDF format.
4. music/ sound art in MP3 format.

General Guidelines
1. An artist can only submit up to 3 works per genre.
2. All submissions must be submitted to papermonsterpress@yahoo.com with the heading ATTN: FIRESTARTER SUBMISSION.
3. The deadline is on September 20, 2012. Contributors get 1 complimentary copy + a warm fuzzy feeling of seeing their name on print. ;)

Hold fast to the gift of fire
I am rage, I am wrath, I am ire.
-Prometheus Unbound, Jose Lacaba

Remember: 100 Favourite Memories asks the simple question - What is your favourite memory? Was it the first time you held your child? That Saturday when you slept in while it snowed outside? The road trip on the Great Ocean Road with your university friends?

Submission Guidelines for issue #4 of my fanzine Muchacha

Theme: “Who Says Feminists Don’t Have A Sense Of Humor?”

The purpose of this issue is to combat the stereotype that feminists are always angry/unfunny/too serious/uptight. I’m looking for satirical/humorous thoughts, poetry, stories, essays, quotes, rants, analysis, art, collages, doodles, comics, or photography from a feminist perspective. Whether it’s half a page or 4 pages, e-mail me at Riotgrrrl56@yahoo.com to submit your work. The deadline is September 1st. Help me in reclaiming the fact that “funny feminist” is not an oxymoron.

Funny Feminists Unite!

Love & Revolution,

Daisy

"Feminist humor raises consciousness. And the reason it's funny is because it stands something on its head. Goodness knows you've got to have a sense of humor if you do feminism full-time, I tell you." - Eleanor Smeal

Dear Labrinthians,

We are writing to inform you that Issue #001 is now live on the site. It will remain live until August 5th, 2012. Then, it will remain in our archives, indefinitely. There is a link at the very bottom of this month's issue for you to download the .pdf version of Issue #001.

This also means that the reading period for "the in-between" and Issue #002 is now open. So, send us your work! Issue #002 will not be published until September 5th, but during the month of August we will publish and "feature" one poem every other day. So, by submitting during the reading period, you are consenting to be considered for both "the in-between" and "Issue #002". If you would only like to be considered for one of these things, please specify in your submission.

Thanks!
