Manifold: Repair

Manifold is a new printed Zine bringing together varied creative explorations of a chosen topic. The first topic is focused around Repair.

We’re launching May 2013.

In beginning the dialogue, we offer the idea that repair includes recognition and restoration.
~ Recognition of: the worth and beauty of an entity, situation, person, place, thing or idea
~ Restoration as: a commitment to an entity’s natural state of balance and harmony

We’re specifically interested in images and/or text relating to any interpretation of the topic.
We’re open to other media, such as video and audio.

Please submit online by March 9th via Manifold.Submittable.com
We’re accepting the following file types: PDF, jpg, mp3, m4a, tiff, mov, avi, mp4 and zip.
Images should be at least 300dpi with the largest dimension at 10 inches.

Please send any questions to ManifoldZine@gmail.com

Calling All Chicago Zinesters!

The Plant is hosting a Winter Zine Fair on the evening of Saturday, February 23rd. We'd like to invite you to showcase your work and for those interested, to also perform a short live reading.

The Winter Zine Fair will be held at The Plant, 1400 W. 46th St. Chicago from 6pm to 11pm. Previous Open Houses and last fall's Monster Food Truck Rally brought 400+ attendees through The Plant!

The Winter Zine Fair will include Zinester Stalls, Lagunitas' mobile beer bar (Coming Soon to Chicago!), live readings, performances by local bands and jazz ensembles and several screenings of Self-Publishers of the World Take Over a documentary by Salford Zine Library's founder and curator, Craig John Barr.

The event is a fundraiser for The Plant, however, we hope to support other uniquely minded communities in the process. We feel that the courage and drive of a self-publisher is similar to that of Chicago's urban farming community.

If you are interested in renting a table for the evening and/or reading at the Winter Zine Fair please contact salfordzinelibrary@gmail.com .

Thank you!

I FUCKING HATE THE GROCERY STORE is a zine about getting harassed at the grocery store.

this zine is whatever you want it to be.  it is about getting harassed for using EBT.  it is about fatphobia at the checkout counter.  it’s about getting hit on while working.  about getting accused of shop lifting for being a POC.  it’s about leaving the grocery store in tears, for the third time.

I FUCKING HATE THE GROCERY STORE is nothing without you.  submit, submit, submit.  queerladyzine@gmail.com

Heroine Zine, based out of Austin, TX, is accepting submissions for its very first issue! We're looking for illustrations, photos, comics, poems, short stories (preferably less than 1,000 words), etc.; any and all creative musings really.

Heroine Zine aims to be a celebration of our foremothers who inspire us to redefine ourselves in our own terms. Through creative expression we create a community that aims to bleach the sexist, racist, and classist pattern in the patchwork of society: defiantly, shamelessly, and unapologetically.

The idea is every issue is loosely based on a central female role model. Issue 1 is inspired by Ms. Gloria Steinem. We are an equal opportunity zine. Our focus is on humanitarian issues ranging from racial and sexual equality to class issues and other social divides. This isn't just a feminist zine; it's a humanist zine.
