I FUCKING HATE THE GROCERY STORE is a zine about getting harassed at the grocery store.

this zine is whatever you want it to be.  it is about getting harassed for using EBT.  it is about fatphobia at the checkout counter.  it’s about getting hit on while working.  about getting accused of shop lifting for being a POC.  it’s about leaving the grocery store in tears, for the third time.

I FUCKING HATE THE GROCERY STORE is nothing without you.  submit, submit, submit.  queerladyzine@gmail.com

Heroine Zine, based out of Austin, TX, is accepting submissions for its very first issue! We're looking for illustrations, photos, comics, poems, short stories (preferably less than 1,000 words), etc.; any and all creative musings really.

Heroine Zine aims to be a celebration of our foremothers who inspire us to redefine ourselves in our own terms. Through creative expression we create a community that aims to bleach the sexist, racist, and classist pattern in the patchwork of society: defiantly, shamelessly, and unapologetically.

The idea is every issue is loosely based on a central female role model. Issue 1 is inspired by Ms. Gloria Steinem. We are an equal opportunity zine. Our focus is on humanitarian issues ranging from racial and sexual equality to class issues and other social divides. This isn't just a feminist zine; it's a humanist zine.

Dear Anonymous 3 is on its way and I'm once again looking for letters!

Lessons learned from DA1:

*250 words or less is good (for one page)

*500 words or less is good (for two pages)

So, basically, you're right in the 1 - 500 words range, but shorter is better. BUT, this zine is about expression, and I don't want to force anyone to clamp down on their passion just for me. I'm flexible. :)

As for content, these letters can be confessionals, but they can also be whatever you like them to be. Write to your life, write to your cat, write to your past or your future... Dear Anonymous is about writing the letters of the things you can't say for whatever reason.

Send letters to theauthor at inkyblots.com

Also send your mailing address if you would like a contributor copy.

Hi, I'm seeking zines and writers for  S.alt Media Review, a zine that reviews POC and WOC (People of color and Women of color) written zines and projects.

m looking for zines by people of color to review in an upcoming review zine featuring zines and alt media written/produced by people of color. My name is Noemi Martinez and I wrote Hermana, Resist and a few others and ran C/S Tiendita. I’m looking to showcase zines and projects by people of color. I’d also like to include  in depth articles, essays and pieces on zines, zine collections and the histories of alternative media as it pertains to people of color. Being a lover of diy ethics and edupunk, if you have integrated zines into your curriculum, classroom and lessons, I’d love to include your philosophy, how you were able to work zines (by people of color! as part of history!) into your class.

*For the first issue, I’m also looking for essays from mujeres (women of color) describing how the WOC zinesters of the late 90s and early 2000 influenced you. With Race Riot 2 and Evolution of a Race Riot becoming available by digital format now, I’d like pieces written about the content of these zines but also the ways in which these influenced our productions and projects, education and writing.

If you’d like to write an article on either one of these zines or others, get in touch with me.

Artwork would be cool too. S.alt Media Review will be released 3-4 a year.

Let’s work on the first issue! So in review, get in touch with me if you’d like to collaborate as a writer, editor or artist -and funding!

here's the call out:
