Hey! Im in the midst of making my first zine first issue: Menstruation; Liquid Sexism.

I am after some tales from males and females

about either experiences with menstruation, sexism, or feminism or just being a women.

the written word is fine aswell as art or poetry.

deadline is July15th

my email:ramblingfeline@hotmail.com

The title came after 2 weeks of incredibly tendr breast (my bodies way of letting me know ill be bleeding soon) then the day the bleeding started i had cramps so bad i couldnt stand up straight or even poo it hurt so much than when the bleeding actually started i had lower back pain to rival any back pain ive ever experienced.

And this is my experience every month.

I was talking to my husband and jokingly said periods are sexist, god is sexist (im an athiest) than my husband replied liquid sexism. And this is where the title came from.

So the zine is basically going to be dealing with womens experience with sexism, bad period experiences, feminism and just being a women. Ill also be included an article about mooncups and how to make reusable pads.

some poetry about sexual experiences and masturbation

And i thought it would also be interesting to have some stories from man who have dealt with sexism towards women aswell as their experiences with feminism and i would love some articles about when man first heard about womens menstruation and how they feel about it then and now. I dunno whatever the title inspires in you.

Around Thanksgiving I am planning on recording a half hour version of "One Minute Zine Reviews" to talk about the year in zines 2011. I would be happy to include mp3s of zine readings or comments / essays / spoken word pieces by zine creators. No more than 5 minutes in length. Contact me for more info.

Lit Bits is a collaborative zine that focuses on books, reading and writing. I am currently putting together issue one and need more contributors.

The first issue is very anything goes with future issues focusing on a particular theme (issue two is going to be fantasy). Articles, essays, interviews, poems, random thoughts on the above topics all welcome and encouraged. Got some book recommendations? Want to share how you organise your book collection? A guide to your favourite bookstores/libraries? Ideas on making time to read and/or write? Would love to see them included. Writing, comics, drawings.. all good. The zine will be A5 size (not sure what that is equal to in American sizing)

If you are really stuck for an idea but want to submit something I have some other suggestions, just let me know. I can be contacted through here or twitter (alkalinekiwi)

What will you get for contributing? Well a copy of the zine for starters.. and I will include some random goodies in the mail when I send your zine.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!
Paper Monster Press “Dream Pop Issue”

After setting the mood with the seductive flair of our "S/Trip-Hop" issue, we will now be leading you into a lovely afterglow with the "DREAM POP ISSUE."

Melodies taking you on an out-of-body experience; rhythms wrapping you up in a blanket of spacious soundscapes; and voices resonating like an echo-laden remix of your favorite bedtime lullaby. Dream Pop is the kind of music that keeps you awake yet under the sheets in a trancelike state at any hour of the day. It is atmospheric and ethereal... And that is precisely what Paper Monster's fourth issue is all about.

We are calling all literary, visual and sound artists to give us their personal interpretations of DREAM POP in the form/s of:

LITERARY ART: We accept poetry, literary essays, critical essays, microfiction, reviews of Paper Monster Press issues 1-3, and ekphrasis works.
VISUAL ART: We accept new media art, installation art, abstract expressionism, lowbrow, graffiti, body art, pop art, photography etc. (any kind of visual art, basically).
SOUND ART: We accept sounds that embody dream pop. Think spacious, ambient, steady, atmospheric, ethereal.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
1. All works must be submitted to papermonsterpress@yahoo.com.
2. Each contributor may submit 3 works ONLY from each category. That means you may submit 3 literary works, 3 artworks, and 3 musical pieces, but no more than that. This is to give space and a chance to others.
3. Submissions must be loosely/closely based on the dream pop genre of music.
4. The EIC’s laptop is Buddhist, so aside from attaching text submissions, kindly paste the contents of your piece to the body of your e-mail.
5. Submit literary pieces in English or Filipino. We do not have the capacity to read and/or translate foreign languages as well as local dialects at the moment. Works should not exceed 500 words.
6. Submit artworks in JPEG format. We accept both colored and black or white art, but please be reminded that PMP will only have a colored cover, the rest of the zine will be in black and white.
7. Submit sounds in MP3 format.
8. If your piece is inspired by a dream pop artist/work, kindly state the artist/work from which your piece sprang from.
9. PMP religiously follows the process of selecting and editing. We stand by our editors’ decisions.
10. For updates, just check the Paper Monster Press Facebook page (www.facebook.com/papermonsterpress)

Deadline for this issue: JUNE 30, 2011

Ladies and gentlemen, let us now get ready to float in space...
