Short Story Collections and Anthologies

Please send all submissions and queries to submissions@argosymagazine.co.uk. Visit our website at www.argosymagazine.co.uk.

Successful submissions will earn royalty payments once the collections go on sale.

Authors retain all rights to works submitted to Argosy Magazine, granting Argosy Magazine licence only to distribute the works in ebook format.

Space Western, Sci-fi Western and Feminist Science Fiction Anthology

Working Title: Firefly Legacy

Alternate Title: Space Cowboys and Fantastic Frontiers

Submissions to this anthology should include elements inspired by the seminal work of Joss Whedon in Firefly and Serenity. Accordingly this anthology will consist of stories implementing elements inspired by his works, especially speculative fiction inspired by the western genre, and science fiction dealing with feminist issues.

We are looking for quality short stories inspired by or incorporating these themes. This could include space-faring sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, alternate history or any conceivably variation. We will consider works that incorporate themes of the old west transplanted into a science fiction or fantasy setting, or which demonstrate strongly characterised female protagonists in science fiction settings.

Colonial Era Adventure Anthology

Working Title: Shadows of Empire

We would like to build a collection of adventure stories set in the 15th to 19th century.  Stories may include magical or science fiction elements but must fit within the aesthetic of the age of imperialism and colonisation, which may include up to the end of World War One. Pure adventure fiction with no weird elements will also be accepted but pulp fiction style stories are preferable.

We are also looking for works for future collections. Genres currently under consideration are urban fantasy and romance. We will be open to other suggestions if your submission is of high quality.

The F-Bomb is looking for submissions to its metaphysical issue. Tell us about your encounters with UFO's. Send us your pictures of ghosts and tell us the story. Write a comic about the time you used a Ouija board and the pointer flew across the room and stuck in the wall. Give us your best hangover tincture. We are looking for your best spooky, mystical, and witchy submissions. We accept all forms of submissions: art, poetry, flash fiction, fiction, creative non-fiction, lists, instructional guides, photography, comics, accent art, whatever your magical mind can come up with. Send us your subs or talk shop at thefbombzine@gmail.com. Deadline is October 31st.

Sugared Water's reading period is open now through January 1, 2014.

SW is a 56 page, half size literary magazine. From the website:
If we could candy words, we’d eat them to bellyaches every afternoon. We carry journals and collect chapbooks like Smaug ripping through a gold-sequin disco. If we’re lucky enough to leave something behind that enriches the dialogue of writerly types around the world, so much the better. Send us your stuff—we’ll only hoard it for a little while.

SW reads poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, and also considers art in all media including comics and sequential art. Up to 4,500 words in prose, 5 poems, or 5 artworks. We are particularly interested in hybrid forms, and will read genre work, particularly speculative fiction.

Request short bio & cover letter with every submission. We read via Submittable.

Wotcha zinesters! Stories From Space Camp is looking for speculative fiction (or essays about the same) for the first issue.

What: The first issue is on the theme of assimilation and/or liberation. (There's a list of prompts on the Facebook page if you're feeling stuck.) Writing should be 3000 words or fewer. All types of fiction are welcome, as well as non-fiction such as book reviews or essays about shows.

Who: We're looking for submissions from people who might feel unwelcome in sci fi/fantasy culture on the grounds of gender, disability, race, etc.

Where: We're based in the UK and ideally would be able to build a zine from submissions from the same because sending stuff abroad gets bloody expensive, but if you've got a great idea we're all ears.

When: Tentative deadline is 20th December.

Why: Because establishment sci fi is boring.

Don't hesitate to get in touch if you've got any questions or want to yell about something. StoriesFromSpaceCamp@gmail.com

Call for submissions! Issue 2 is now in the making and we want your work to be in it. Writers, poets, illustrators, artists and gobshites If you've got something to say, say it here. We are looking for works that have a fresh style of writing that will entertain and amuse readers, whilst commenting on society.
The subject can be anything at all, as long as it is well written, interesting and for an adult audience. Say what you want to and not what you think you should.

Issue 1 is still available to print and is FREE so get in touch for a taster of what we are about. Handjobzine@gmail.com! A&F

Greetings folks!

My creative vision for Turntable Operator has shifted. If the zine is going to continue, I would prefer that it focus on music reviews of all kinds of music (mostly physical releases) from the 1950s to the present, as well as band / musician discographies and record label interviews. In order to accomplish this, contributors are needed! So please spread the word and please consider sending me a review or two or three, or a discography or owner of an indie record company or record store. My inner muse is telling me that Turntable Operator does not go forward without this evolution and without your help. I hope the next issue will be published in early 2014 and all contributors will receive a copy.

Electronic submissions: singinggrove@conknet.com

Physical submissions: DJ Frederick 36 West Main Warner NH 03278.

Blessed be.
