um, shall we say tuesday 21 then?
and hopefully some more people will be up for it too ...
the cowley club bar is open 7-11, with a "DIY punk social DJ night" from 8.30 ... im not quite sure what that means, we could always meet there and leave if its too noisy, or maybe another suggestion...

Five is fine for me, but Toby can't come. I'm away the weekend after, so in the week will be best for me then.

hiya i would be up for meeting up sunday but only between 5 and 8, so i dunno if that works. it might i guess. or next week sometime ... tuesday evening?

Ah bugger have family down on Sunday then King Blues gig in the evening :( catch me up on what happens if meeting does occur, if not I'm free any evening next week (except Thurs as the awesome Copyrights and Zatopeks are playing the Albert!)

No reply from the west hill people, I might send them a myspace message as well, perhaps they haven't got the email

I work 1-4 every weekday. I also work from home in the mornings, but as I'm my own boss then, I can be flexible about that, but eves/weekends are definitely better. I live in 7 dials, so anywhere in Brighton or Hove isn't much of a problem for me.

The Quakers are hardly the speaking in tongues/bringing snakes to church types. When I went in for the art fair they had a big poster offering sex counselling sessions!

wow i just joined up here and first i found the european zinesters group, then the uk one and now i find the brighton one - brilliant!
i read through the comments, and im really happy to find some other people interested in doing a zinefest in btown. i have been discussing doing one with my friend graeme (i will suggest to him he joins here too) in a warehouse he is caretaking in fiveways .... the space there is awesome but the problem is that it is unheated so i dont think its really feasible to do something there before spring next year.

i would def.be interested in helping to organise a zinefest somewhere else ...
for the places mentioned below (by the way maybe a discussion would be easier than lots of comments) i would say:

cowley club - an excellent place for a zinefest in some ways but perhaps a bit small? they do have weird opening times but i imagine they would be totally up for hosting a zinefair if we suggested it and were prepared to sort it out. this was my planB option. other advantages would be that they have a licensed bar, facilities to make food, a library there already and the possibility for music. having said that i think other bigger options should be explored.

friend's meeting house - i doubt anyone would really be turned off by the religious implications of the quakers .. most people dont have a problem with them, and i doubt they would have a problem with us, being big on free speech.

having said that the west hill place sounds good, especially if there can be music in the night.

for getting tables and stuff like that i imagine the brighton unemployed resource centre would be helpful...

for timing, i would love it if it could be this year but i reckon doing it late january is better - more time to organise and then indeed the students will be around .. by the way, i just started a masters at sussex uni - is anyone else studying there? i was thinking about setting up a zinesociety which may open up possibilities of a university zinefest venue or even funding.

as regards money i think it sucks to ask tablers for a contribution, and i wouldn't want to do that unless i really had to. hopefully by making food we could cover costs and we can try to blag a place for free or cheap.

aye february would be a good time, thats two months before the london one. an ideal time would be about now, but obviously that means a year's wait. good to hear edd gave some advice, i'm still up for getting involved
