Comment by Elouise Quinlivan on August 30, 2012 at 6:56am Hey All - I've been asked to co-ordinate the TINA zine side of the TINA Sunday fair now - please email me at quinlivan.e@gmail.com to book a half table or full table stall . Thanks to the support of the NYFW and the conversations happening here, online and in person about the prohibitive cost of stalls, TINA is now able to offer the zine holders free stalls for the event and free public liability to those who need it. It will be a first in first serve basis for tables, but I'm looking forward to seeing all the new publications being made around Australia, and meeting some more new faces at the annual fair. Cheers, Elouise - Smells Like Zines Distro
Comment by TimT on August 20, 2012 at 9:15pm Oh I don't think it's wrong of TINA - it's their zine fair so they can choose to do whatever they like. From what I hear the insurance cost at least is a requirement of the Newcastle City Council. But inevitably it will exclude a lot of the smaller ziners from participating. Really, who would bother going apart from the bigger comic stores and the zine distros?
I was talking to a distro proprietor about two years ago who mentioned that the TINA zine fair had gone down in quality of recent years. That's sad - I remember how excited I was when I lived in Newcastle and discovered it, when it was still smallish and they just held it in a tiny art gallery.
Comment by Nicholas Beckett on August 20, 2012 at 8:02pm I put the info up about the TINA zine fair before I knew the details. Just so you know they are also asking for payment up front before your application is considered. So that's $45 before you know if you're even accepted. Pkus insurance etc.........
Comment by TimT on August 20, 2012 at 7:05pm Vanessa - wow, $45 a table - plus insurance - plus (for those of us who live outside Newcastle) travel and accommodation*. Okay, that's just unaffordable.
*In my case I'd stay with parents.

Comment by Vanessa Berry on August 20, 2012 at 5:33pm To those thinking of having a stall at TiNA this year, did you know that it's $45 to have a zine stall? Also you need your own public liability insurance. I think this is pretty discouraging to most zine makers. If you think it's wrong, I encourage you to write to the organisers about it, at thisisnotartoffice@gmail.com.
Comment by Nicholas Beckett on August 16, 2012 at 8:05pm Just thought I let you guys know that the TINA (this is not art) festival in Newcastle is holding it's annual Zine and Art market on the 30th September.
Details on getting a stall are here
I might see you there.
In case the link doesn't work (and for some reason it doesn't seem to be) here are the contact details:
To secure your space as a stall holder at the TiNA markets, please email Brad or Bianca at info@fixxevents.com.au

Shop 10, Campbell Arcade, Degraves St
Melbourne, Victoria 3000

'YOU' is a free weekly, anonymous, paper zine from Melbourne. 'Pony For Now' is a free, monthly, paper zine from Canberra. The zine is being launched at the Melbourne zine haven Sticky Institute.
Canberra, Australia. It's not all about the politics! Beneath that 1970's facade (and between the roundabouts) lies a cultural underbelly that Nat, zinester of 'Pony For Now - The Canberra Chronicles' has been cut and pasting about, on monthly basis since January 2012.
