Gag Me With A... is looking for more art! Currently at about 2/5ths art, I'm looking for the zine to be more drawings, photography & collage than it is stories at this point. I want the art to not match the written pieces, I want them to stand on their own. Gag Me is a sub/counter culture type zine, so I'm really looking for some quirky ass shit. Deadline: Asap - we're premiering the 5th issue at the LA Zine Fest February 19th!

One Eye Open, is half art zine half article-led zine. It includes articles on music, film, culture and unique artwork to accompany that subject. If any artists (illustrators, photographers, or any other person capable of producing artwork) would like to get involved please send a sample of work to oeomagazine@gmail.com.

Girlzone is a not for profit feminist collective, exploring monthly themes concerning adolescent and young adulthood through the realisation and understanding of feminism. Supporting female artists and writers through a monthly zine.

A collective blog magazine on the fusion between art-literature-poetry and music or how these different disciplines interacted and amused themselves and were muses for each other at the same time. This blog invites authors also to publish their own work on LAMUSAR or to give comments on books they like and why?!

The theme of the zine is "revelations", dealing with the realization of subculture and finding a place among people more like yourself instead of the boring people you go to school with... “Mad as a bad tornado”

Open call for submissions to zine dedicated to visionary artist Henry Darger.

Henry Darger, Diary entry April 16 1968:
"Had trouble again with twine. Mad enough to wish I was a bad tornado. Swore at God."

Henry Joseph Darger (1892 – 1973) was a reclusive American writer and artist. He has become famous for his posthumously discovered 15,145-page, single-spaced fantasy manuscript called ‘The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused ...by the Child Slave Rebellion’, along with several hundred drawings and watercolor paintings illustrating the story. Darger's work has become one of the most celebrated examples of outsider art.

Mad as a Bad Tornado is a curated zine dedicated to visionary artist Henry Darger. The zine will be a hand-made, A5 colour publication, printed in a limited edition of 50. Mad as a Bad Tornado will be launched at South Square Gallery, Bradford on 4th November  and will be sold online and at a range of arts events and outlets in Yorkshire in Autumn/Winter 2011.

Image and text submissions are invited in response to any aspect of the life and work of Henry Darger. Drawing, photography, collage and writing are all welcomed. Mad as a Bad Tornado is curated by artist and independent curator Jean McEwan.

To apply, email your submission, along with an artist cv and statement to the Jeanmariemcewan@gmail.com.  Image submissions should be in jpeg format. Written submissions should be provided in Word and be a maximum of 500 words.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! Paper Monster Press "Queer Punk Issue" (The Year-ender, Ear-banger Issue!)

You draw lines, shape boxes, and try to decide which ones fit you best. But have you ever stepped outside the line and think, how much further would you dare to go? People who are openly queer call this coming out of the closet. We close ourselves, cage our hearts, and throw away the key. For this issue, we are daring you to come out with us.

 

Once again, trust us with your submissions. We ask you to go over the boundaries of gender, race, norms, and clichés.

We want your roars for human dignity. Colors of explosions and madness, and words that ignite our passion for equality.

 

Give us your poetry, your essays, your stories, your art, and your music in their most rebellious forms. Color our worlds queer in the way punk personified anarchy.

 

Cross borderlines on tightropes. Shrug off oppression. Do away with social conventions. Put stereotypes aside forever, never again to be worn by anyone.

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES: 

1. All works must be submitted to papermonsterpress@yahoo.com.
2. Each contributor may submit 3 works ONLY from each category. That means you may submit 3 literary works, 3 artworks, and 3 musical pieces, but no more than that.
3. The EIC’s laptop is Buddhist, so aside from attaching text submissions, kindly paste the contents of your piece(s) to the body of your e-mail.
4. Submit literary pieces in English or Filipino. We do not have the capacity to read and/or translate foreign languages as well as local dialects at the moment. Works should not exceed 500 words.
5. Submit artworks in JPEG format. We accept both colored and black or white art, but please be reminded that PMP will only have a colored cover, the rest of the zine will be in black and white.
6. Submit sounds in MP3 format. Add a short description of each track in two to three sentences.
7. If your piece is inspired by an artist/work, please indicate the artist/work from which your piece sprang from.
8. PMP religiously follows the process of selecting and editing. We stand by our editors’ decisions.

-I'll promote some good "punk"(anything) bands and comics and such.
I'll give credit.
-Free issue for those who contribute.

I'm looking for a great jambalaya full of shit. Kinda like a VERY LARGE New York news paper. I'd like some people from NYC to contribute as well.
