nothing in particular, it's just going to be packed full of random stories and stuff.

A bit of advice from an old timer... you never want to describe a zine as "random". Are they personal stories? Fiction? Non-Fiction? Are they about riding public transportation? Hiking adventures? Climbing on rooftops? Dealing with the death of a friend? How to build a bike cart? To get a zine out there a solid description is going to make or break people's interest in reading when they dont have it in front of them for a thumb-through.

Meh, When I make a Zine, to me its not about making it appealing to others. It's about doing what I want and using it as an outlet for myself. If they don't want it, that's fine.

Hi Paranoid Android,
I don't think Nicole was saying that you should make your zine to be appealing to others, but rather that people are more likely to know if they want a copy or not if they know a bit more about what's in it.
I guess I could say.. that this zine, is about personal expierences, random thoughts, things in my eyes. how i see it. i can't generalize what i write into one or two catagories unfortunately :/ when i feel like writing about something, i pick up a pen or keyboard and do it.
Wow, i hope the people who write the zines i read and love arent assholes. thanks for the warm welcome to the community.
I'll leave the site if you don't want me here, and want to treat me like an idiot.
I'm not going to describe my zine in a way that people consider "valid"
i'm sorry for wasting your time. bye.
"This board/website is also not the center of the zine universe either. It's a small fraction where probably 10% of the registered users check on a regular basis."

that's exactly why i'm saying, if i'm not wanted here i'll leave.
You're basically saying "I am making this zine about stuff. Who wants it?"

Well, I don't know if I want to spend energy on mailing a trade in if I don't know what your zine is about. Like, what if it's a bunch of collages of cockroaches or about how much you love the Bush administration? I don't want to read a zine about those things.

It just helps to be more specific.
jesus, feeling the commitment here. People are going to provide criticism in a lot of things you come across, you know. Some of it will be more confronting than people wanting to know what your zine is about, when you start a thread promoting it. The reason it has escalated - overreaction? If you think people are treating you badly, maybe reread some of your reactions to simple criticism.

just joining the chorus to say, post again when you have actually FINISHED making your zine, & tell the community what the hell it's about. no one is marginalizing you by requesting a quick synopsis of contents. you are, of course, under no obligation to tell people what it's about...but don't be surprised then when no one orders it. also, you should be aware that it's difficult enough to get people who have actually completed their zines to follow through on orders & get them in the mail to people, without wasting money on someone whose zine isn't even finished & appears to have no contents aside from "randomness". that's not a topic. also, the whining is very unattractive. it would turn me off your zine even if it didn't sound like a pointless waste of trees.
