a place for zinesters - writers and readers
Hi, all. I really like using interesting (printer-friendly) papers for my zines - different colours and textures and so on. But I'm really struggling to find suppliers here in the UK. Any ideas? Where do you buy your own zine-making stuff?
I don't know what's available over there, but I get my colored papers at FedExOffice. They have a pretty decent selection. They also have different textures on their resume papers, and I think some with patterns and borders.
Oh, and also, do you have the equivalent of Michael's (craft store)? They have tons of cool paper types there, and other fun ideas for your zines. If worse comes to worst, there's always ordering online. Shipping charges and waiting are a pain, but there's a wealth of stuff to choose from.
I'm in the USA, so bear in mind that shipping prices and paper sizes might be a problem, but you can check the brands carried by JAM paper http://www.jampaper.com/ or Paper Works http://paperworks.com/ and see if they have distributors in the UK. You could also look at UK companies that supply copy paper to offices and see if they have a retail line that has more expanded colors/textures of papers (because then at least you'll know they'll work in a printer). Good luck!
