I don't know about the technical questions, but I want to drop by to say I LOVE THE ZINE MACHINE! Please let me know how I can get mine in there. Good luck figuring out how to put it all together. :)

The IPRC in Portland is re-purposing a cigarette machine too.

How they are doing it is they are having people make a cigarette box out of folded paper and the zines will have to fit inside.

The ringed snack vending probably work for large standard 8.5 x 11 half fold zines.

I made a zine for the IPRC zine machine and used their specs. You can see images here: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/104989833?

My next zine will be a cigarette machine Zine.

I Love, Love, Love the Idea of Zine Vending machines.

If I ever come into a vending machine for like free or next to free, I will create one.

Zine-machine, a great idea

There is one at the IPRC but I get annoyed when I look at it because it spells zine as 'zines

Great idea! I'm shakin' it if I don't have any change. Sorry, old habits die hard!

The Canberra Zine Emporium in Canberra, Australia has just launched a zine vending machine.  Maybe also get in touch with The Geelong Arts Alliance here in Victoria who were operating one about ten years ago.  Luke/Sticky.
