We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

What nice book collections of zines are there out there?

I love this idea because it means you can actually read zines from yesteryear and get a bunch of great ones all in one fell swoop.

I'm aware of:
Despite Everything: A Cometbus Omnibus
Dishwasher: One Man's Quest To Wash Dishes In All Fifty States
Doris: An Anthology 1991-2001
Found: The Best, Lossed, Tossed And Forgotten Items
Ghost Pine: 13 Years Underground
No More Shaves: A Duplex Planet Collection
and all the Zine Yearbooks

There's also books about ziney magazines like:
BITCHfest: Ten Years Of Cultural Criticism
The Bust Guide To The New Girl Order
How Sassy Changed My Life
She's Shameless

What else should I harp on my library to order?

Flow Chronicles by Urban Hermitt is great.

The Burn Collector set is good too!
oh yeah! On Subbing, by Dave Roche. All about teacher stuff!
In the 90's there was THE BOOK OF ZINES by Chip Rowe which was a compilation of various articles form various zines in from that era.

There's DOUBLE DEUCE which is also by Aaron Cometbus and may actually just be a slightly expanced edition of a issue of COMETBUS.

And one of my personal favorites is CRAIG KINGSBURY TALKIN' by Kristen Kingsbury Henshaw.
There was alos something that I think was called THE FACRSHEET FIVE READER by R Seth Friedman that was similar to Chip Rowe's book.
china martens has "the future generation". it's all about punk parenting. it's a collection of her zines from the time her daughter was a baby up until she turned 18 with a little bit of reflection on her new empty nest. i love it and i love china.
Stories Care Forgot: An Anthology of New Orleans Zines by Ethan Clark
Absolutely Zippo anthology by Robert Eggplant
Girls Guide to Taking Over The World: Writings from the Girl Zine Revolution
My World: Ramblings of an Aging Gutter Punk by Jeff Ott
Making Stuff & Doing THings by Kyle Bravo
Dwelling Portably by Bert & Holly Davis
Last hours just put out a collection of Morgenmuffel. It is pretty rad.
If you want to get really old school, there's also:
the Zines! books put out by Re/Search
The World of Zines by Mike Gunderloy
Girls Guide to Taking Over the World: Writings From The Girl Zine Revolution
(and Zine: How I Spent Six Years of My Life in the Underground and Finally...Found Myself...I Think by Pagan Kennedy)

Others I know of:
Chainbreaker Bike Book
Guinea Pig Zero
Thrift Score by Al Hoff
Best of Temp Slave
The Essential Hip Mama
What I Did on My Summer Vacation by Christoph Meyer
Access All Areas by Ninjalicious (Infiltration zine)
Long ago in a galaxy far far away I had a copy of a Ben Is Dead book... Amazon turns up this: http://tinyurl.com/yclsqqk which is to say... almost no info. But an ISBN is always a good place to start.
