My name is Dan, I’m a student at Temple University in Philadelphia. I’m taking a class called Youth Cultures and I’m doing my final research project on Zines. I chose this topic because it is something that has always interested me but I never knew much about. It also is allowing me to create a project outside of the traditional research paper boundaries. Part of the requirement is to get insight into our topic from people who participate in the culture. I want to pose a few questions for people to answer and words to define. Feel free to answer as many or as little as you want. Any sort of feedback is greatly appreciated (negativity is not).
Define these terms in your own words (or what they mean to you):
Zine
Zinester
Distro
DIY
What sort of content does your zine contain?
How do you make your zine (your methods, your tools)?
Why do you make zines, how did you get introduced to zines?
Do you distribute your zine? If so, How do you?
Is there anything you do that makes your zine unique or special from other zines?
Do you categorize yourself as a zinester? Why or why not?
What do you like to see in other people’s zines?
What is a zine’s goal?
Tell me about your zine.
Any suggestions for my zine or my research project?
Thank you in advance for those who participate in this survey!
