We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Let's hear your zine distro & store recommendations. Zine World is going to run an updated list of reader-recommended distros & stores in our next issue. (Our previous list.)

Who distros your zine? What store sell zines in your town? Who do you buy zines from? Please share, and tell us why you recommend them.

All comments in response will be considered for publication in Zine World and/or on our website. If you don't feel comfortable posting a response here, email it to me, jerianne@unddergroundpress.org. And please don't recommend your own distro.

(I know the list of Ongoing Zine Discussions says there is a already discussion for zine stores, but the link doesn't go anywhere.)

Vampire Sushi Distro (http://www.vampiresushi.co.uk/) is my favorite. They've got a nice selection and the all-important "cool factor."

I've submitted my zines to a half dozen different distros but have never received so much as an acknowledgement of the zines arriving from any of them.

My arts collective has started a zine distro out of our group. The Broken Arts Zine Distro (http://www.brokenarts.ca/zinedistro.php) has been running for a couple months now. We table at concerts, zine fairs, and record shows and purposefully don't have an online store. We're currently carrying issues of Photocopy Press, Rat Brat, Scared To Dance, Tandem Felix, and this kitty. in addition to all of my own.
Nobody makes zines in our city so our distro, in addition to zine workshops we run, is meant to bring awareness and get zines out there for people to see and think about.
Zine stores in Chicago: Quimbys (www.quimbys.com) is the best ever! Chicago Comics (www.chicagocomics) is also great. Quimbys leans towards zines, CC leans towards comics, but both take both.

In Baltimore, Atomic Books is great.

In Portland, Reading Frenzy.

In Albuquerque, a new place called The Cellar Door, or Burning Paradise, or Astro-Zombies, but none carry a whole lot, and mostly try to stay local to New Mexico.
