a place for zinesters - writers and readers
After nearly six years of service, and a recent move to Somerville, Papercut Zine Libary needs your help!
With a lending library of nearly 13,000 zines, Papercut offers free membership to community members, allowing patrons to check out zines for up to two weeks at a time. The Library’s catalog ranges from D.I.Y. photocopied booklets to glossy independent magazines with topics ranging from parenting to politics and everything in-between.
After being forced to leave their space in Harvard Square, settling into their new location (226 Pearl St. Somerville, MA), and maintaining their D.I.Y. ethos (free membership, payments on a sliding scale, and never turning anyone away due to “lack of funds”) Papercut has run into some problems coming up with enough money to cover their overhead.
Since the move the library has managed to offer more to the community by hosting zine release parties, showcasing local artists, organizing and providing community workshops, and even hosting movie screenings. With lots planned for the future, the library has put together a fund raising campaign to help keep them afloat. Please visit their “Chip In” page here or their personal website for more information on donating.
More info on the incentives (you can get cool swag, and be entered in some raffles for donating!) can be found at our Chip In page, HERE
Thank you so much,
Kimberly
