Hello everyone,
A little late but here is the new issue of The Cenacle. The challenge with June (and December) issues it to create a good new issue in less than two months’ time. Since I write several pieces for each issue, that means I need to push hard to write as well as to edit the issue. Fortunately, my pieces are among a much larger number to flesh out the number.
The contents of this new issue include:
• Poetry by Tom Sheehan, Martina Newberry, Judih Haggai, Raymond Soulard, Jr., Nathan D. Horowitz, & newcomer Joe Coleman
• New fixtion by Raymond Soulard, Jr.
• Classic fiction by Philip K. Dick
• “5 Fascinating New Uses For Psychedelics” by Sarah Seltzer
• From Soulard’s Notebooks commentary
• Notes from New England by Raymond Soulard Jr.
• Secret Joy Amongst These Times: A History of Scriptor Press by Raymond Soulard Jr.
• “Travel to Belize” journal by Charlie Beyer
• Photography by Kassandra & Raymond Soulard, Jr.
• Photography by Jeremy Kilar
• Artwork by newcomer Baylen Greever
It is especially gratifying to be able to welcome both newcomers & frequent contributors to this issue. Any creative project needs both to keep consistently lively & interesting. Kassi & I had a lot of fun getting this issue done; we hope you enjoy it!

Permalink Reply by Tom Hendricks on August 15, 2012 at 8:54am Dear Readers,
The new issue of Musea is out and about and prowling the night! ... at the usual suspected locations! AND webmaster Matthew has posted it on the Musea website (see below).
This issue is not for those children that are too young, or women who have ever had the vapors ! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Here's the intro to the ish:
This issue of Musea is an adventure story for the kids.... but only brave kids because.... well you will be plenty scared - and NOT just from reading poetry!!!

Now ... still time to leave the room ....
OK for those brave souls left, here is the start of LIBRARY BOOK, a kid's story in VERSE:
__________________________
LIBRARY BOOK
I woke up sweating
and shivering too!
My library book
was overdue!
I know what you're thinking
'How could you forget?'
But hear the whole story.
There's more to it yet.
The day turned dark.
A storm was approaching.
I missed my school bus,
and was stuck with walking.
Everyone was gone,
even that bully, Bratty.
I was there alone
with a wind that was rattling.
The clouds got blacker.
The leaves were like bees
swirling in circles
and stinging my face.
I raised my hands
to protect my eyes;
but, through my fingers
I saw in the sky...

Piltdownlad #5
"The Detour Guide"
Piltdownlad is a personal narrative zine. Each issue is centered around an autobiographical story. In this issue it's "The Detour Guide," which continues the story from issue #2: "Women Got Me Drinking." (Though it is completely self-contained.) So there are more French Quarter shenanigans, interactions with gutterpunks and tourists, as well as a failed attempt at romance. Illustrated by the wonderful artist Nick Knudson. An excursus to the story is a short confession about my time in foster care. Also in this issue is a travelogue about a recent road trip the wife and I took to New Orleans, a piece called "Gettin' Lost Downtown," which details my attempt to start a t-shirt business with a street person in Downtown LA, zine reviews and a "Letters and Comments" section that focuses on previous issues of Piltdownlad and the papernet.
Typewritten and photocopied
Half-sized (5.5"x8.5")
64 pages
Available for trade or $3 concealed cash to:

Permalink Reply by Kris Hartley on August 16, 2012 at 9:55am I've finished my very first zine. It's a little fancier than necessary, but the graphic designer in me couldn't help it. Future issues will be less fancy but just as cool.
Please check it out if you have a mo'.

It’s 80 pages (40 pages each), 1/8 size and the theme is food. Fergus is an omnivore, I’m a vegan so there’s something for everyone. It’s $1.20 (plus 60c postage AU, $2.35 postage elsewhere). You can get it from my etsy (here).
