a place for zinesters - writers and readers
I just found about a new 'Low Profit Limited Liability Company' business incorporation that might be a great chance for zinsters. Go to Wikepedia (or any other search engine) and search for 'Low Profit Limited Liability Company' or 'L3C' . There are about 10 states/Indian Nations that are now allowing this format. If you form it in one of those states, you can operate in all 50 states.
The most important part is that you may(?) be able to create local community 'newspapers' (the definition of that may be questionable, but it could include 'zines' or you could do an 8 1/2" X 11" page size magaZINE that is multi-columns. Either staple it FOUR times on the left edge or use 11 X 17" paper and fold in half and saddle staple it using a 'long reach stapler'.
You can go beyond the 'copier' stage by leasing a 'digital duplicator' (Risograph, etc.) so you can make many copies at 'mimeograph' prices.
You really need to research this new development, but if it is as successful as I think it is going to be, it will be a chance for 'zines' to compensate for the loss of community newspapers.
