I think I've lost my mind.

There's a guy selling an AB DICK 360 offset press not far from me.  This is the offset press that I learned how to pring on in high school.  It's also similar to the one that we used at a print shop I worked at after after high school.

 

Anyway, he's selling it for a good price, and there's another guy selling a digital plate maker for a decent price as well.  I'm seriously thinking about getting it.

 

I have a back room in my house that I've kind of set up as an art/print room.  I have 2 copy machines, an hp designjet 600, my epson 1400, my heat press, stencil making stuff, screen printing stuff, stamp making stuff, uhhh, a pinball machine.. overhead projector (for making giant stencils).. Is adding a 900 pound offset press the last straw?  Is this what certifies me insane?!?!

Honestly, I've hardly spent any money on the things I have.  I check craigslist DAILY for free and cheap things, and I also live near about 15 thrift store.  I only work 4 days a week, so the other days I'm all over discount stores and thrift stores looking for finds.  You'd be amazed at what'd you come up with!

Awesome, what cabinets do you have?  I have a Stern Meteor pinball, a Milipede, Ms.Pacman, Donkey Kong, Metal Slug, a jukebox, slot machine, and a pachinko machine.  I constantly have to fight myself to keep from buying more cabinets.  I do want to sell the milipede and get a Galaga though.

 

Anyway,  I still can't find anyone to move the press for me, so I haven't bought it yet.   Maybe that's a good thing.  Maybe not having a press will keep me more hands-on in trying to figure out cool ways to mass print things.

Ah, i guess you did not get it..but i like your positive outlook of seeing it in a way that it will force you to be more creative about mass printing (: that is an awesome topic that should be brainstormed on more..

I just called the guy and told him I'd take it!  I gotta rent a truck with a liftgate to get it though.  Going to pick it up tomorrow at noon.  I'll post some pictures once I get it home! 

 

I almost didn't get it.. but then that damn youtube sucked me in and I started watching offset press videos, haha!

hahah, sounds so amazing..i would love to be shown how to use one!! at the most i can only make 10 - 15 copies of my zines because ink cost me $25-30 dollars after tax...fucking expensive when most of my zines are all free. if you get things up and running i would love to pay you to print me off some mass copies!! cant wait to see photos (:

Sweet collection Ray! I have tons, I've collected for quite a while. Current pins: Addams Family, Star Trek the Next Generation, Black Knight, Nine Ball, Evel Knievel, Trident, Bride of Pinbot, Dr. Who and Laser Ball (a weird widebody Williams I picked up recently and just got running again). For vids: DK, a Multi-Williams, Millipede/Centipede combo, Asteroids, Tron, 720, Virtua Fighter, Streetfighter 2, STUN Runner, Frogger, Ms Pac, Defender, Xevious and 6 or 7 project games in my garage. Have you picked up the newish zine Drop Target? They've done two issues, it's dedicated to pinball and pretty awesome.

Wow, you really do have a collection!  I'm kind of glad I bought a small house (also an impulse buy..) so I can't fit anymore cabinets in it, i'd be forever broke!

 

I haven't heard of Drop Target, but it sounds completely awesome.  Can you point me in the direction of where I can purchase it?

 

Oh, Cheering and Waving, I haven't run a press in a long long long long time, so it's going to take a lot of practice for me to get back into the swing of it.  I'll probably print peoples zines for the price of paper and the shipping to get it back to them just for the practice!  I'll let you know when I'm up and running!

well.. fucking bummer to the max!.. I was just on my way to rent the truck with a liftgate on the back of it to move the press to my house and the guy selling it called me and said he's decided to hang on to it..  Totally bummed right now!  At least I didn't just go give the truck company a bunch of money before he called.  sheeeesh!
