How do you use Facebook for promotion and sale?!

Hi guys!

sorry for my bad english!

I have long thought about a way to get my zine out to people, and sold.
I use facebook for promotion, but it does not work as well as I had thought.

Are there others here who use facebook to promote and sell. can you share your experience?

Thanks for your help

The problem with social networking sites is that before you can use them effectively for promotion, you have to promote them as well in order to gain an audience to who you want to promote things. Meaning, if you make a website and no one knows about it, how is anyone supposed to find out about it? So it's kind of a Catch-22. I'm not very good at this either, so I'm curious to see what other people have to say.

So far, however, what seems true to me is that the more social networking sites you are on, the better. So rather than just choosing Facebook or Twitter, it's better to be on both. People like to connect, so if one person has a Facebook account and another has a Twitter but they both like your stuff, if you have accounts on both platforms, both of these people can start following you.

I think the best way to increase your audience is to tap into another network's existing audience. For example, just by being on WMZ and posting your zine on it, you are already reaching a wider audience (that is actually interested in zines). So you can take advantage of this by listing your related zine sites in your profile such as your Facebook, blog, personal site, etc. Give people a way to find you. Also, ask friends to help you by having them link to your site (if they're willing). It can feel a bit selfish and egotistic to self-promote, but when we're not famous, who else is going to do it for us?

It is a good idea to be on several different pages, so it something I would consider doing. problem of promoting my zine on wmz is, that it is in Danish, so the target audience is very small here.

I have created a page on Facebook, which has 100 follows, but I'm still not sell any zines. I think maybe the problem is that I do not promote my zine in the right way, in relation to the target group.

One can not say that the zine culture in Denmark is very big, so it is also part of the problem, I think.

I too would be really interested in peoples views/tips about this,

I have just started using Facebook to promote my own zines, art and start-up distro. Could anyone recommend some people to look at who are doing it well?

Also, could anyone recommend zine related facebook groups to join?

I'll love to look at your pages and give some feedback.

I do have a group for zineisters, but its all in danish.

There is only on good thing, I can see works on facebook, and that is that many discover your project.

My experience is that I found out that my audience probably is just the other end of the country.

But it is also the only experience I have with promoting my project on facebook.

If anyone is interested in looking at my project (it is in the early days) it is at www.facebook.com/theoysterknife

I sell tons of art and zines on Facebook.I just take digital photos of the zine, and when someone is interested I tell them to send thier adress to my messages. Its like a free text service.I use it to promote shows and shit all the time. Its lame, but it works.

I have a little Facebook fan page, but I think most people find my zine at bookstores, distros, or when I table. I use my Facebook page and website to communicate with people about when I'm going to be at events or when I have a new zine out, but I think it's more like a bulletin board or landing spot for people who already know about my zines than a place to promote to strangers.

I don't use Facebook to promote my zine or my distro. As Bucket said, a Facebook page for your zine is a good way to  connect with people who already know about your zine. For my distro and for getting submissions for my zine (APMT) I've been doing well on Tumblr. The reblogging feature is drawing people to discover the distro and I'm getting sales and interest and submissions that I can easily trace to my posts on tumblr. It's more time consuming than FB especially at first, but it works so well for me for helping people discover the distro, and my zine.

After much deliberation, I've jumped on board
