Footprint zine printing question

hi,

Sorry a bet of a newb here, just wondering if anyone has had their zine printed by footprint. What are they like, whats the finished product like and was also wondering if i could buy/get hold of someones whos had theirs printed their so I can take a look!

I was planning on gettin my zine printed there for issue 1 and i just want to see what quality will be like as it will dictate what kind of things i put into it!

as far as i know you can get any size A3 or smaller on loads of different paper, you can get black and white and then every other colour is extra, i think ive noticed most people use the recycled paper as its the cheapest and has a pretty nice texture. its so amazingly cheap too.

They have great prices and are very helpful but i really need to see what the printing is like. They said its a bit better then photocopying, however i am thinking of putting guitar tabs in my zine, and i just want someone whos had a zine done by them to come forward to see how the ink prints.

The tabs will set me away from the crowd as will some other features ive got planned, but i need to see if ink will copy it proper !

ive generally had pretty good results with photos etc, as long as theres good contrast in your flats (original) then you'll be fine. im sure you could ask them to just print one copy and then you/they can adjust it if need be.

i asked them that, and they said they cant just print one as it doesnt work like that.

LITERALLY if anyone here has had anything done by the, I will buy the zine or whatever, very important that i see what the outcome is as this zine could be a very big thing for the uk thrash scene here in the uk. its A5 64 pages and i doint want to get it printed and find out something dont work.... u know what im saying :)

I really, really wanted to use footprints, but their prices were just way too much higher than my local copy shop, and I couldn't justify it. :(

They brought a machine to the london zine symposium to print up the zines on the day- the prints are nice, crisper than a photocopy, with smooth tones, not the photocopier banding.

just got my zine printed by them (from hard copy not computer file) and looks nearly identical to the original and better repro than the local art/copy shop.

I've had a few zines done by them, they're pretty good, pretty nice, pretty professional. Tell em the details of your job, ask them for a quote, they'll probably have a question or two to finalise, and then you make your decision. there are a few pricing things, for example, like it's a touch cheaper if your pages are numbered, and maybe if it fits their anarchist ethos or if you were willing to do some of the labour yourself.

Sorry I wrote that without actually following the thread. My zines were all low-fi black-n-white sketches so no need for specific high quality print. They explain the machines they use on the website so you can look into it that way.
