Couch Surfing

Any folk use couchsurfing.com

I am looking to use the site for a last minute fix for some travel plans.

Wondering if anyone has used it and how it worked out.

I have a friend who uses it often and he finds it very helpful. I have not used it, myself, though.

I've used it tons. There was a not-awesome incident some years ago where a girl got raped while Couchsurfing in Morocco, prompting a more elaborate system of verifications, etc. Same with anything, there are risks, use caution. I've had only minorly awkward experiences and would recommend it for cheap travel and meeting interesting people.

Update:

Experienced my first couchsurf.

It work at fine. I would say it was a little different because the place was a youth hostel that offered me one night couchsurfing and a second night for regular price.

So it was more of a promotion then a traditional couchsurf at someone's home, which I take to be more the norm.

I would definitely use couchsurf again.
